(POV Tyler)
I started walking back to Naomi's house because she invited me for some reason. I hear a buzz from my phone implying that she probably sent me a message, but I'm not gonna look at it in the pouring rain. My job sucks, I just do it to support me and Naomi. I promised her back in middle school at some random sleepover that I'd never let her be sad. So I've always tried to make her happy no matter what the cause is. It sucks that I'm going to keep it private though because my family doesn't like me going out with her for some reason I never fully understood.
I don't care what they think, all I know is that I love Naomi so much and that's all that matters. As I reach the front door I knock very lightly. As I see her looking at me with green eyes with a bright smile. I've always loved her dimples, it's addicting. She then looks down at my stomach and back whilst saying random things to me at the door. I get mad at her for calling me by my name because pet names are amazing. "Call me something else next time please." As I pull her chin towards me wanting a kiss. She pulls back which starts to make me concerned. "What's wrong?" I said softly while holding her hand. "Did you not see my mess-" I stopped and kissed her. I don't care what she had to say, I want it so bad. As I slip in a little bit of tongue as our lips press back to back I hear a slight gasp. I stop and look at see Minh and Max. "Oh Shit...um!" I say.
It gets a little awkward until Max slightly stammers over his words saying "When has this started?" He says. "About a couple months ago..." "AND I DIDNT KNOW!" He replies. Naomi jumps in saying "Well it was kinda sudden, I remember about a month before we did our little meetups when it was just us three something happened." She continues " A couple months before we were constantly meeting up, I remember we used to go to the same school." "And a couple months after graduation Tyler called me and-" I sort of touched Naomi on the shoulder, chuckling a bit while saying. " Are you really gonna tell them this embarrassing ass story?"
"Yes Tyler, now as I was saying. A few years after graduation Tyler called me at a bar saying that he missed me and he needed a ride back home." "He then said on the ride back 'I love you' on accident, I didn't tell him about it, because I assumed it was the alcohol talking." However, about a couple weeks later he still confessed to me so It didn't really matter." Goodness, why did she have to expose me like that. "Yea, hahah, I always remember how crazy I truly was about you, I feel bad.."
A few hours pass and fun things happen between us. After some time Minh and Max leave together and it's just me and Naomi. The sound of the show in the background is deafening in the sense of it numbing our senses. We both are looking at our phones which is making me dissociate from reality. As my phone says it is at 1% I put my phone on the desk and then I go up to her. I go to the couch she was on and hug her. We continue hugging without any words until she interrupts. She says "what's wrong, are you okay?" I reply saying "Nothings wrong, I just missed you.." "I missed you as well Tyler." I don't even care about the fact she used my actual name, this is exactly what I need. "I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable about what happened, I didn't know.'' "It's ok, it wasn't your fault." We do this until time flies for a little while. "Y'know Naomi, I never really talk about my parents..and I think i'm ready to tell you why." She slightly inhales because it is a silent topic when it comes to us.
"My parents think that you present in a very masculine,tom-boy-like way." " They wanted a Perfect feminine girl... with the same skin complexion as me." I continue the thought " I don't really care that much about what they think or say because you make me better." "I was so lost in my younger years, until you saw me that one day alone at lunch and you sat next to me." " And more people joined our group and I felt seen again." "You're my compliment. After some more venting we continue to hug and watch the show as we slowly drift away.
We start saying sweet nothings as our minds slowly disassociate into a slow melancholy. "Naomi, please don't leave." "Naomi, what's your favorite food?" It was such a different subject, but I just enjoyed talking to her as we went away.
