6. Everything has Changed

Somehow nothing and everything changed the day taelon was named heir. He was still a prince. he was still fulfilling his duties as commander of the city watch since his brother vanished in a fit of rage

Calla was so proud of him. She always was but she could tell the burden of this was weighing on him.

"My love come join me," calla ran a hand over her stomach as he got ready for the day. He had already been up for hours. When he wasn't training his own body and mind, he was training everyone else's.

"I am so sorry love," taelon whispered throwing his dirty clothes aside. "Im already late."

"I know just a moment out of your very busy day to kiss me." Calla instructed. Taelon smiled moving to her. He kissed her lips and then her stomach.

" I will make up for my absence. I promise you."

" I know you're under a lot of pressure and your brother left. I do not blame you, my darling. You were just gone before I wake up and still out when I go to sleep." Calla remarked. Taelon sighed heavily as he sat beside her. " my darling I know this is a lot of pressure and I know you're trying to please everyone but remember what you told me..."

" of course I do."

" when this baby comes, they're going to need you to."

"I know and I'm going to do better. I'm going to be here for you. I swear it."

" I know my love. Now go on, you're already late." Calla instructed.

'I am not prepared to start a war with the Free Cities.' Viserys demanded.

'These pirates are not the Free Cities. Who do you think provides them with their ships and tender?'

'In all of its history, my lord, the Seven Kingdoms have never entered open war with the Free Cities. Were that to happen, the losses would be incalculable.'

'What reason does the Crabfeeder have to fear us? The King's own brother has been allowed to seize Dragonstone and fortify it with an army of his gold cloaks.' Coryls remarked a challenging stare at Viserys. Taelon sighed. 'Daemon has squatted there for over half a year without even a protest from The Crown.'

" I wouldn't say he's squatting. I would say he's my brother and I'm not currently at Dragon stone..." taelon offered. He loved his brothers. His brothers were his family. They raised him and trained him. He wasn't going to turn his back on them.

'I'll caution you, Lord Corlys, a seat at the King's table does not make you his equal.' Otto warned.

'I have acted, Corlys.' Viserys told him. 'I've sent envoys to Pentos and Volantis to see if we might find common cause. Ships and men are at the ready. The Stepstones will be settled... in time.' Viserys added.

" maybe he has a point brother," taelon offered. " is it not better to see this monster vanished?" Viserys debated that.

" do you have a solution my prince?" Corlys questioned. Taelon opened his mouth but rhaenyra spoke up.

'You have dragon riders, father. Send us.' Rhaenyra suggested, being the cup bearer she was present at most meeting when she wasn't out riding Syrax.

'It isn't that simple, Rhaenyra.' Viserys told her.

'It would be a show of force.' Rhaenyra told them.

'At least the Princess has a plan.' Corlys remarked leaning back in his chair.

'I only meant that we should at least...' Rhaenyra began.

'Perhaps, uh... there's some better use for the Princess's talents, Your Grace.' Otto suggested.

'Why don't you take the Princess to see about the new Kingsguard posting, Lord Commander?' Viserys suggested

'A fine idea, Your Grace.'

" perhaps I could go with lord corlys." Taelon suggested as Rhaenyra and Otto headed out. " we could devise a plan figure out how to safely-"

" there is no safe if we do do this we start a war." Viserys corrected

" a war is certainly already brewing." Taelon countered. " what's the harm in taking a flyby?"

" Fine just a flyby." Viserys agreed.

"Thank you my prince." Corlys agreed getting up.

"I have to say goodbye to calla."
Taelon remarked as they walked.

" you're coming back." Corlys countered

" she is my wife. I have to tell her where I'm going.."

" is she your warden?" Corlys laughed out.

" no. she is my wife and I love her and I know she will be worried about me if I take off and I don't want her to worry.  She is pregnant now almost 8. The last thing she needs is worry." Taelon corrected. 

The land that the crab feeder had vanquished was a massacre of bodies speared into the ocean, drowned by the sea.

The lands were ransacked . The flood spilled into the ocean, turning it red.

" you see now we have to do something." Corlys demanded.

" what must we do? This war is not part of Westeros. My brother will never agree."

" but it's affecting my men my ships who are apart of Westeros." Corlys corrected. " Our people. The kings people."

" I will speak with him again,  even if the king does not move against them, I will find a way to help you. Help your people." Taelon assured. Corlys shook his hand.

" you are a good man Taelon. You will be a great King."
