Otto was more excited than helaena if that was possible.
"Today? I think today seems a good day for a wedding."
"Her 14th name day is only a moon away." Alicent countered
"Hes so old." Aemond corrected.
"He is not. And he is much more charming than Aegon." Helaena added bluntly.
"I heard that." Aegon growled.
"You were meant to." Helaena agreed.
"You will be a beautiful bride." Alicent declared. Helaena blushed she would have been glad if it was the twins, taelon and herself. Forget everyone else.
"Is helaena going to be our new mommy?" Corey questioned
"Im going to marry her and she is going to be... your step mother..." taelon agreed slowly. "What do you think about that? Because it's not set in stone if you boys-"
"Can she tuck me in every night?" Elio questioned
"And sing us songs?" Corey added
"And show us the bugs that-"
Taelon smiled as the boys asked back and forth all the things that helaena could do when she was their mother.
"The boys are very excited." Taelon informed her as they walked.
"Me as well." Helaena agreed hand in his. "Are... are you?" He smiled down at her.
"I am." Taelon answered. She pulled him to a stop and wrapped her arms around him. "I adore you flower." He whispered kissing her forehead. She melted into him.
"I will be a good wife to you and mother to the boys." She whispered against him.
"I will be a good husband to you. Treat you right. I promise."
"I don't doubt it." Helaena assured. He spun her back around as they continued on their walk.
"I uh," Taelon hesitated.
"Yes?"
"I made something for you." Taelon admitted. Helaena brightened.
"You made something? For me?"
"An early wedding gift sort of," taelon led her back to his chambers she breathed in the scent. His cologne lingered in the air but the smell of chalk and oils covered it quickly as She got closer to his desk. He held up the picture hesitantly. He usually kept his artwork in a journal for his eyes only. He had given many drawings to calla over the years. Little paper figurines. He was always self conscious about his work. It was like a piece of him on paper.
"Oh taelon..." Helaena whispered taking it from him. It was of her and the boys their hands in hers and a field of fireflies before them
Everything was perfect. Until they were celebrating her 14th name day and Taelon got cold feet.
Otto was ready for a wedding, Taelon would give Helaena a son and the realms would agree that a child born of Hightower and Targaryen was a better heir than with a Tyrell. Tyrell, pft.
"Is something wrong?" Helaena questioned. taelon traced his fingers down her spine.
"Can we wait?"
"Wait?" Helaena rasped.
"The wedding, can we postpone it?" Taelon questioned. She didn't want him to change his mind and find someone older. Someone more beautiful and more mature and someone more experienced.
"Postpone?" She squeaked back.
"Just until you are a bit older." Taelon offered.
"I'm 14." Helaena countered thinking that old enough.
"And I'm older." Taelon reminded her.
"You and your Calla were married at-"
"I know but I was young back then too. It's not that I dont adore you Helaena, I do. The boys do too." He assured. "It's just..." he stopped himself.
"You are not ready." Helaena realized.
"Its not that, its just..." Maybe partially. "You are still very young." Taelon reminded her. He wasnt as fucked up as his uncle, attracted to women half his age but Helaena was different. Daemon always liked the young ones which Viserys never understood.
"We cant postpone! The king is getting older and helaena needs a child!"
"Taelon is the heir he already has-" alicent objected but otto wasn't listening.
"No, no, this wedding is happening we have waited long enough!" Otto demanded.
"You are not in charge here father." Alicent corrected.
"Says who?" otto challenged.
