INCOMING CALL FROM:

DIDI 💋

ACCEPT?

Me, Dior, and Leah have gotten a lot closer after the past few days. We text all the time and have our little group chat- they even planned for the three of us and maybe some of the other Percy Jackson cast to do laser tag tomorrow. I accept the call, of course, and Dior's and this other girl's face pop up on the screen.

Now if I had known someone else would be in the call I might have cleaned up a bit- I have no makeup on and my hair is in some weird half-updo. Not to mention I'm wearing my fluffy pink robe.

"Dior!" I shriek. "You could have told me someone else would be here- I look like a garden gnome!"

Dior rolls her eyes as she takes a sip of her freshly made protein shake. "You look fine, and besides, Leens is a girl's girl."

I sigh, cocking an eyebrow. "Sorry," I say, apologizing to the blonde on screen. She's outside, unlike us two, and wearing a baseball cap with a grey hoodie over it. "I'm Juno."

"And I'm Leena," the girl laughs. She tilts the camera to her side to show a boy in a black hoodie. "This is my younger brother."

The boy is engrossed in his phone and sends a quick "Hi" to the camera. I can't see his face but his voice seems oddly familiar.

The three of us girls yap about the drama going on in our schools and whatnot- how this guy Brody dumped a girl named Violet only to get with her stepsister right after at Leena's school, and at Dior's there's this whole teacher thing. My eyes widen at all the stuff they're talking about- nothing at my school even comes close to that. The only semi-interesting thing that has ever happened was when Carrie, a girl a year above me, found out she was the only one in her grandpa's will. We have to stop mid-conversation because Didi's mom has to take her somewhere.

"I have to go- my mom is supposed to take me out for food in 5," Dior says. "I'll text you both later, 'kay?"

"Of course!" Leena says, then turns her head to her brother. "Walker, say bye."

Did she just say Walker?

She turns the camera for a second time, and I get a glimpse of the boy's face. Walker looks into the camera- seemingly at me, in surprise.
