Tasha's POV"So what's our plan since we don't have classes tomorrow?" Keyla asked while sitting next to me. We were in the living room of my house and planning to go somewhere to relieve the stress.
"Out of town?" Megan offered. Megs was eating fries while scrolling through her phone.
"Yeah, I know a newly opened bar. And Josh invited us to join them," Keyla replied with a grin. Joy was evident on her face.
"Oh! So it's Josh who's inviting." Megs joked. Suddenly, the smile disappeared from Keyla's lips as Megs teased her. Josh had been courting Keyla for 2 months.
"I know you'll be happy too. Yes, Matt is coming too. I know you've been talking more often on IG. Go ahead, try to deny it," Keyla countered.
"Y-yeah. Naturally, I reply because the person messages me," Megs defended herself.
"Even if the message isn't important, you'll still reply?"
"Of course. But it doesn't mean we're interested in each other. Matt and I are just friends." Megs replied.
"Isn't he interested if you go on dates several times after years of not getting along?" Keyla retorted again.
"The hell! He said that?" Megs's eyes widened upon hearing it, wondering how Keyla knew.
"Yeah. But don't worry, he didn't tell me that you said 'I love you' to him. But my God, Megs, I thought you were just friends?" Keyla ran off before she could be hit by the pillow Megs was holding.
"That guy's mouth is really smooth. And you! You actually believed him!" Megs retorted irritably. Her cheeks started to flush. I laughed. There really was no secret that Keyla didn't know.
"Sorry sis. I just happened to read their conversation on IG." Keyla said, amused.
Megs sighed. "Just to clarify. The date and 'I love you' weren't true. Those were just part of our deal. I owed him a favor that night because we needed a guitarist for the gig, 'cause Jerome had a problem with his family and he couldn't make it. The gig was about to start in a few minutes so I had no choice but to agree to his request in exchange for his help. The favor lasted for a few days because Jerome was absent for a few days too. So, the date and 'I love you' weren't true. He twisted the information." Megs replied in frustration.
"If you really just see each other as friends, why are you so angry, sis?" Teased Keyla, while Megs seemed to protest in embarrassment. I found it amusing to watch them, but Megs's denial was even more amusing.
"Shut up!"
"Okay, okay. So is Matt courting you now?" Keyla teased again. After months of Megs teasing her, she finally got her revenge. And she was really prepared for it.
"I don't entertain guys with loose tongues." Keyla burst into laughter upon hearing Megs' statement. She only stopped when she noticed Megs blushing intensely from embarrassment. Maybe she was also annoyed with Matt for telling Josh about it. Megs seemed to be interested in Matt's story. But maybe she really did have feelings for him?
"Crazy. The guy did nothing wrong. I just happened to read their conversation," Keyla replied calmly. This time, she stopped teasing.
"Don't bother explaining, Keyla. I'm so annoyed. That guy better watch out!" Megs said, visibly irritated. I sighed, annoyed.
"Alright, go ahead and tell him as soon as we get there," Now, Keyla sided with Megs. Just a while ago, she was on Matt's side. The change was so fast.
I looked at Megs. I could see in her eyes some of the things they were talking about. And for those who don't know, Matt and Megan have known each other since childhood. Their friendship is so deep. Matt gave her the princess treatment that she never experienced in her past relationships. They shared many memories as close friends, so Megs was deeply hurt when everything changed when Matt got a girlfriend. Matt didn't really want to distance himself from her, but he had no choice because Megs did the right thing even though it wasn't what Matt wanted.
