the main basis is that theres a continent called trench and within that continent is a trapped city known as dema. dema represents depression/mental illness trapping one in their own head. theres the nine bishops, also known as nico and the niners that keep the people in dema, they represent inner demons keeping you in your mental illness. then theres the banditos, theyre the ones who escaped dema and reside in the outer parts of trench. red is the color of those trapped, its the color the bishops wear and it represents dema as a city. yellow represents the banditos, its the only color the bishops cannot see (because yellow usually represents happiness), so the banditos use it to hide in plain sight. clancy is who tyler represents, hes one who escaped dema, was taken back, and escaped again. trench tells his times the first time he escaped and about living with the banditos, scaled and icy represents him getting trapped again and being forced to entertain the people of dema, clancy (album coming out in may) represents him escaping again and learning the bishops powers to help everyone else escape dema. clancy now wears red to blend in with the people of dema, so he can teach them crypticly how to escape (which is shown in the mv for overcompensate!!!!), however he only does that when he uses the powers he learned (that the bishops use) to basically possess someone in demas body and show the people of dema how he escaped. the newest song that came out (next semester) talks about his ptsd and anxiety from what happened when he was first brought to dema before he even knew about trench. blurryface as an album represents his life in dema, shows what it was like for him to be trapped in his own head
vessel kinda represents life before dema, one of which he doesnt remember anymore. blurryface is when he got trapped in his head and was brainwashed into forgetting everything before then.
