During lunchtime at the Montessori School, Arlon and Liliana found a quiet corner to sit together and discuss the accusations that Arlon's parents had been making about their friendship. Arlon reassured Liliana that he didn't believe the accusations for a second. He knew that his parents were simply being overly protective and didn't understand the genuine bond they shared. Liliana appreciated Arlon's support and understood that his parents were just looking out for him. She felt grateful to have a friend like Arlon who stood by her despite the misunderstandings.
Arlon's brows furrowed with frustration as he spoke, "Liliana, my parents are falsely accusing you of being a bad influence on me. They think that you're somehow changing me, but you've only ever been supportive and accepting."
Liliana, her eyes filled with understanding, replied gently, "Arlon, I know your parents mean well, but they don't know me. I've always cherished our friendship, and I would never try to change you. I love you just the way you are."
Arlon nodded, but his frustration was palpable. "They even suggested that you might be brainwashing me," he said, his voice tinged with disbelief.
Liliana sighed softly, "Arlon, I would never do anything like that. I love you too much genuinely. I respect your parents' concern, but I want you to know that my intentions are pure. I believe in the strength of our relationship and trust that we can navigate any challenges together."
Arlon continued to vent his frustrations, "And they accused you of manipulating me for your advantage as they say that wealthy people are good at manipulation."
Liliana's eyes filled with hurt as she listened to Arlon's words. "Arlon, I understand why your parents may have concerns, but please believe me when I say that my love for you has nothing to do with wealth or manipulation. My feelings are genuine, and I am committed to building a strong and honest partnership with you."
Liliana looked genuinely hurt by the accusations but maintained her composure. "Arlon, I don't know why they're thinking these things. They don't know me or my family's values."
Arlon's frustration grew as he shared the final accusation, "They even said that I might be sugar-dating you because you come from a wealthy family."
Liliana's eyes widened at that accusation, and she couldn't hide her anger any longer. However, she remembered Arlon's gentle nature and chose her words carefully. "I understand that these accusations are hurtful, but please know that I hold your hand because I genuinely care about you."
Liliana said softly, her grip on his hand tightening slightly. "Our relationship is built on trust and love, not material possessions. We shouldn't let their baseless judgements affect us."
"Arlon, they don't understand our friendship or how much you mean to me. They don't know about autism and how unique and amazing you are." She continues.
Arlon sighed, feeling the weight of his parents' stubbornness. "They're still in denial about my autism, even though there's a written diagnosis."
"I know it's frustrating, Arlon," Liliana said, her voice filled with empathy. "But we can't let their ignorance define us. We have each other, and that's what truly matters."
Arlon looked at her, grateful for her unwavering support. "You're right, Liliana. We can't let their judgment consume us. Our love is stronger than their doubts." Liliana smiled warmly and gave his hand a reassuring squeeze. "Exactly, Arlon. We'll prove them wrong together."
Liliana took Arlon's hand and looked into his eyes with determination. "Arlon, I will talk to your parents. I'll explain everything to them, don't worry, I'm tactful and wise. You just have to trust me."
