"Mamaaa! Mama!" Little Edmund called out to his mother, his little legs taking him as fast as he can. When he finally reached her, he patted his mother's face to wake up. "Mama..."

Ella was startled when she felt smacks of hands on her face. Eventually, her eyes adjusted to reality and her heart calmed down when she saw it was just her son trying to wake her up. "Oh...Edmund...please don't scare me like that..." Ella sighed.

"Mama..." Her eyes went wide in surprise when she saw him holding 2 daisies with a hand-drawn card on the other hand.

"Awww...is that for me?" She sat up to carry her son to the bed and looked at the gifts he brought her. She first looked at the card he made and was amazed at his work! The fact that he tried to write 'Happy Mother's Day!' as 'Hapi Maters Dey' with a stickman doodle as her made Ella's heart warm in happiness. "This is beautiful, Edmund! Thank you! I appreciate your gifts!"

Just then the door slowly opened, revealing Albert carrying a food tray. "It's official! Happy first Mother's Day, my love!" Albert greeted her while coming to her.

"Well good morning to you too, my dear!"

Ella was ecstatic for her husband's surprise, but it soon turned to disbelief for the next few words he said. "I woke up earlier than usual to make breakfast for you. I know cooking isn't my strong suit, but I followed the recipe for your favorite pancakes just the way you like them!"

Albert settled the tray on her lap, revealing 4 layers of pancakes with butter and fruits (chopped in chunky slices) at the side with chamomile tea.

"Woah...you made this?" Ella asked in bewilderment. It looked delicious to Ella, and the fact that her husband took some time to learn about making her favorite dish was truly astounding. She trusted her husband that it would taste ok.

"Indeed, my love."

Albert watched her take the first bite, hoping she would love it. Unfortunately, it wasn't exactly what he hoped for. Ella tried to show she loved it but deep down the pancakes were actually too salty. "Mmm...mmm...mmm...?"

"Is something wrong, my love?" Albert became concerned because he believed he did follow the recipe.

Ella took a sip of her chamomile tea before answering. "It's...quite...salty...too salty..."

"Oh..." It dawned on Albert that salt looked like sugar but tasted different, and he didn't bother tasting the ingredients while cooking the pancakes. "...Oh dear..."

Meanwhile, Ella chuckled at her husband's mistake. "But I guess it could be an alternative to bread when you combine it with meat!" She tried to uplift her husband's mood. The results weren't perfect, but Ella appreciated his efforts to make it happen.
