|Vows and Promises|

┗━━━━━━━━━━┛

Her grandmother leaned forward. Araelia could tell she was Interested but also slightly worried "What kind of vow?"

Araelia chuckled "Don't worry, I haven't promised myself to anyone"

Suddenly she remembered that she was going to promise herself to someone; Robb Stark. She could have been a queen; The Queen. the queen in the north. All this time she was worried about Margaery wanting to be queen, about what everyone in her family wanted. But what about what she wanted? What if she wanted to be a stark? She shook her head. She wanted to be a Tyrell, she is a Tyrell. She wanted to stay that way...she thinks. She still wanted to help the Starks, she needed to. She vowed it and she didn't intend to break that vow. If she couldn't marry Robb she would find another way, she would figure it out. She had to.

"But you were going to?"

"What?" Araelias head shot up.

"You were going to offer yourself, weren't you?" Her grandmother leaned on the table, eyes hearing into her soul.

"I-" Araelia stumbled over her words.

"You were" she was using her eyes to see through her "You said you made a vow? To who?"

"Catelyn Stark"

Her grandmother rubbed her chin "Lady Stark? What did you vow to her?"

"I vowed to save her children, to save her family. To end this war once and for all" Araelia admitted.

"Why? The Starks have nothing to offer us"

"I vowed to save her daughters because she's a grieving mother. her husband was decapitated, her daughter's taken hostage and her eldest son is at war and another is crippled. How would you feel?" Araelia found herself getting very defensive when talking of the Starks.

"I suppose I would be sad" her grandmother took another sip of wine "Does this vow correlate to what you were really going to tell Renly?"

"In some way"

"Well, tell me your plans" Her grandmother leaned back, ready to take in the information and assess it.

"I thought that if Renly had the north on his side it would help both parties. Renly could get the iron throne, the Starks could get the north, and they both get vengeance"

"But Renly didn't want to" Her grandmother observed.

"So I had to convince him while also helping Lady Stark"

Olenna tilted her head in interest.

"I thought if I wed Robb Stark it would form an alliance between our houses. We could destroy the Lannisters, and Renly could be king, and he wouldn't have to worry about the Starks rebelling again..."

"Because you would be his queen" her grandmother finished for her.

All Araelia could do was nod. She felt so stupid. She had it figured out. Everything was supposed to work out...Everything could have been perfect...

Her grandmother hummed "it was a good plan, had Renly not died"

"I'm sorry" Araelia shook her head ashamed.

"What are you sorry for? You have done nothing wrong"

"I failed our family" Araelia eyes were teary "I could've have had our family be the highest house in all of Westeros. Your granddaughters could have been queens, and your great grandchildren princes and princess"
