MAHI

Oh GOD, is this what you call karma?

I was successful last year in avoiding that absurd prank to dance in the 'Ami je tomar' song, wearing a white saree and ghungroo at midnight in the parking lot of my apartment because the thought of getting caught by someone, and then scolding me was filling me with dread.

But this dare- it's even worse than the last one. I sometimes get shy talking with myself, and they want me to make a reel in public.
It's so embarrassing.

This feels like my last day on Earth.

I don't want to be here.*crying internally*

Mahi, you can do it.

'What's the worst that can happen?' I shrugged my shoulder, removing the negative thoughts.

Slay girl.

After motivating myself a little, I moved forward. I can't even cross the road properly with the pent-up anxiety. My hands felt clammy as I tightened a hold on my phone.

I reached the station and was waiting for the said officer to come out. The wind was strong, it seemed like it would rain tonight. My hair flew in the wind. It felt calming against the not-so-calming situation.

I was revising the lines in repeat in my mind, the lines which I had to tell him.

I had been standing here for twenty minutes, many officers came and left the station but he hadn't come out yet. It seems like, the time I was persuading my friends, he went inside the station.

I rubbed my sweaty hands on my jeans-cladded thighs as I was talking with my friends through the eyes, and they were looking quite excited to see the upcoming show unfold in front of them.

I moved my gaze towards the gate to see the officer exiting alone while talking on his phone as I heard a chorus of 'Jai hind, Sir' and feet stomping on the ground.

His posture was erect and confident. He exuted an aura of authority and Confidence.
It was intimidating to me.

why am I even here God?? *crying internally*

I moved closer to him fidgeting my fingers, sweat started forming on my forehead too scared to approach him, and as he noticed me, his eyes widened slightly, and he gulped looking at me.

He looks somewhat familiar.

Have I met him before?

"Yes, I'll talk to you later." He ended the phone after somewhat regaining his consciousness.

I started crying harder internally, his voice was so deep, that it was making him more intimidating.

If not for the dare, I would have never approached him even if I wanted to file a complaint against someone because he looked so intimidating like my strict dad.

He puts his phone in the pocket of his trousers while turning towards me.

"Yes?"

My hold on my backpack's strap tightens.

"I ac..actually wanted a favor. I hope y..you are free. " I stuttered in fright and slightly confused because of his former expression when he looked at me.

He nodded looking at me curiously.

I started speaking looking at my shoes, if I looked into his eyes, I knew I would not be able to speak a single word.

"So the thing is, my friends gave me a dare to make a reel with a police officer and before you scold us, we are not an Instagram influencer doing this for views or something, if you want I won't even post it anywhere. It's just for fun since it was our last exam today, you just have to stand beside me and do nothing, and if you don't want to you can say no and I will lea... "

He stopped my rambling with a chuckle as his eyes gleamed.

"Your friends gave you the dare?"
He asked sucking in a quick breath.

I nodded unable to speak anything, in anticipation of him scolding me in front of the crowd.
My heartbeat was racing, nearly exploding.

"Show me what I have to do."
