I was talking with the commissioner about the recent serial murder case. I nodded my head as a gesture of greeting the other officers when suddenly, I felt someone's presence behind me.

I looked over my shoulder. My eyes widened looking at her.

My Mahi. My Love.
The girl I have been in love with since the first time I saw her a year ago.

Flashback

I rubbed my forehead and punched the car's bonnet, feeling heat behind my eyelids. I leaned against the car and looked at the sky, feeling useless and defeated.

Again. I again failed. He managed to buy the only witness, my only hope.

I am sorry samy, I tried my best to get you your pending justice.

I mumbled looking at the sky.

With my cap in my hand, I ruffled my hair and sat inside the car, promising myself to not waver from my goal, to get my dead sister justice.

I brought the car to life and the constant disappointment kept me nudging.

After a few minutes, I saw a huge crowd gathering in the middle of the road. Horns blasting could be heard as the car was blocking the road, it seemed like an accident occurred.

I wore my cap hurriedly and stopped the car at the side. I got out of the car and sprinted to the location.

The air smelled like turned rubber and oil.

People moved from my way as they saw me approaching.

A boy was being held by a group of men.

One of the men said holding the boy by his collar.

"Jai hind, Sir" As I was about to speak with the man, I heard Ankit's voice. Ankit Sharma- a fellow police officer and my best friend with some more police officers.

I looked over my shoulder and said,
" Take that boy to the station, and take someone as a witness and secure the scene. Call the traffic police to control the traffic and write a report after the situation is under control."

Ankit dragged him to his car to take him to the station and my gaze fell on the girl.

She had her eyes half closed and was whimpering in pain, lying in her pool of blood, in front of the car. I felt a pang looking at her and felt my heart stop beating for a second.

A woman had kept the girl's head on her lap. I quickly kneeled in front of her and checked her pulse, it was slow.

I instructed the woman to not let the girl close her eyes and lose consciousness.
