The grass danced as the wind took its hand and guided it to the song that it quietly sung. The sun shined a spotlight on them and showed off its radiant smile. The lavender willow tree which swayed its branches, side by side, has been there for centuries. A peace treaty, it was called, between the two royal families of Shorla and Edena. That does not mean in harmony, though. Each kid from each family grew up being told to "Stay away from the Shorlas!" or "Don't go near the Edenas, they are mad!". None of them crossed their side of the lavender willow tree, none of them edged beyond. You might wonder, what happened? It has been 30 years, they should have moved on by now. Let's just say...
Family history cuts deep. There are some wounds that make a scar forever..
Alex put his head against the bark of the tree and sighed as the purple petals decorated his hair. He, you could say, had a quite nice life. Well, nice was an understatement, let's just say a tranquil, wonderful life with no stress or worries. He wasn't heir to the throne, meaning he didn't have all the burden to carry, and everyone adored him. You could say, he was the kingdom's favourite. "I don't understand why they love you so much.." his best friend, Elijah said to him one day, "I am going to be king!" Alex just shrugged it off, he didn't really care much; just that he was happy with Prince Consort Sylvan, King Julius, his best friend, Elijah and his brothers.
He wanted to take a quick glance behind the tree, there was a small gap between the cracked wall, covered in ivy, see what it was like on the other side but... what if..
He stretched his hand in the little gap between the tree and the wall. It was useless thinking that somebody from the other side would notice and say even hello. In fact, if anyone from the other side did notice his hand, they would chop it off. Alex could care less though.. What was fun without risk?
Suddenly, a rough hand grabbed his harshly and yelled, "WHOSE THERE? WHO COMES?"
Alex felt a shot of panic surge through his head, he could not reveal his identity, he would surely be killed. He had to make an excuse, say that he was someone else.. His name was.. was..
"MARSDEFER!" he yelled out, "I am just a normal servant! Please don't hurt me!"
The figure felt Alex's soft cold hands with his long but warm fingers and twisted on the golden ring that he had.
"No servant has gold.." he observed, "Or is allowed to wear gold in the palace. Don't you dare lie to me and tell me the truth!"
"I-i.." Mars didn't know what to do and started pulling his hand out of the man's grip, fighting for his life. He had to get out of this mess that he created, now.
"LET GO OFF ME!" he screamed, struggling.
"What are you? A girl?" the figure on the other side mocked, "Cause you sure do sound like one!"
It was quite a struggle for a few minutes. The figure mocked Alex for quite a while but when Alex finally got out of his grip, the figure was shocked, saying that he thought that he was exactly like ######## but that Alex was much tougher.
Alex didn't care for the words the man said and got up; about to leave, run back to the palace and forget all of the things that had happened but the voice called him back, telling him to wait and for some reason, he did. He looked back at the tree and the voice told him that he would see him soon. Somewhere and somewhen. Before he could reply, a tall figure came running to him. He had chestnut brown hair with emerald green strands in contrast to his ocean blue eyes. The heir to the throne. His best friend. Earth.
"What are you doing here?" Elijah hissed, angrily, "You know we aren't allowed here! If King Julius-"
"Julius said that we aren't allowed past the tree.. I am not even past it therefore I am following the rules. Anywho, why do you care? You always break the rules.."
Elijah huffed angrily at that last part and then muttered,
"Because you are like my own brother, I don't want anything bad to happen to you.."
"What was that?" Alex asked.
"Nothing, just let's go back.."
"Fine..
The two trailed off into the distance, Elijah yapping about how Julius gave him a lecture about running in the halls or something like that, but Mars didn't care. He didn't even listen. He looked back at the fading image of the lavender willow tree, waving goodbye to him, hoping to see him soon.
And he will..
