Alex slammed his notebook on the pearly white bench, which shook slightly from the force. He just couldn't think or write anything good enough; his pages were full of scribbles and crosses of poorly written ideas, at least to his belief. This little rage that he had, told him, well enough, that he needed a break.
He stood up, leaving his notebook and pen behind, to get some fresh air in the open field, blanketed by buttercups and daisies. As the air brushed pass his curls, a sensation of freedom washed over him; like he could go out and venture into the wild (which he obviously couldn't, he was a prince, he had duties to fulfil). His mind then wandered back into the past, reminding him of the vision of Elijah's face when he looked at his cut, and when Alex told him that he just fell. He didn't look like he believed Alex at all. Alex wondered if he had any suspicions about the way Philip was treating him; he didn't necessarily know if that was a good thing. If Philip gets any inquiries, he might just kill both of his younger siblings immediately, thinking that, he, Alex told them, which wouldn't be true, at all.
His mind then burst out with another thought. He didn't exactly know if it was worse or better than the previous thought; they both had terrible cons. Elijah could have heard him talking to the man from the other kingdom: the Kingdom of Shorlas and could have thought that he might have hurt him, which he kind of did. Though this could lead to severe consequences to him. Out of the heir line, banned from his kingdom, imprisonment or maybe even death, if Elijah told his uncle. No, Alex thought to himself, King Julius wouldn't do that to him, right?
Subconsciously, he made his way under the lavender willow tree where he sat, 2 days ago. Where he first encountered that man from another kingdom. He took a deep sigh, as his mind once more narrated the events that took place on that day; when suddenly, he heard a familiar voice.
"So, you're back again? Right? It's you, isn't it, the so called servant with the gold ring? I recognise your hand.."
Alex, realising that his hand was in the gap between the wall and willow tree, quickly removed it on instinct, thinking that the man would just grab it, like he did last time.
"Woah! Feisty! I'm not going to grab you again, you know? I just want to talk, is that a crime?"
"Now that you mention it, it probably is.. unless your kingdom condemns in speaking, or in fact, having any sort of communication with the rival kingdom."
"Don't we have a peace treaty?" he asked, stupidly.
"That doesn't change the fact that it is a law, in both kingdoms, as I have heard, that no person may communicate with anybody on the other side of the lavender willow tree." Alex stated, word for word from the book, The Laws of the Edenas.
"And yet, you're still talking to me, Mr 'I'm right about everything'!" he teased.
Though Alex did despise being called that, it was true. He did think he did have the moral superiority and intelligence which reigned over everybody else. It was a guilty thought, he must admit, he didn't enjoy having such beliefs.
"Come on! Did I really upset you?"
"No," he swiftly responded, to evade any comfort, "No, not at all.."
"Well then, let's get to know each other.. no harm in that, right, sunshine?"
Alex's cheeks immediately flushed pink as he said that.
