Chapter 1
---

Nia woke to the sound of consistent banging on the wall, followed by a series of loud drawled moans and grunts.

"OH YES, REESE!"

Nia turned restless in the covers, snatching the pillow from under her head to cover her ears.

"RIGHT THERE, BABY! RIGHT FUCKING THERE!" The girl all but screeched out in pleasure.

The feather stuffed lump could only do so much to muffle out her cries, but not nearly enough for another round of sleep.

When her headboard began to bang in harmony with their rhythm, she had enough. Nia jerked up from the bed, fierce anger and frustration boiling in her veins. With a tight clenched fist she pounded harshly on the wall.

"Shut up!" God! they were shaking up the whole complex. It's surprising no one complained about the ruckus yet and Nia was no light sleeper.

Leave it up to Reese Carmichael to get laid in the middle of a pandemic.

Playful giggles and shush noises was her reply, before they pettily continued much louder and harder.

An angry vein pulsed against her temples and Nia sprang from the rocking bed and reached for her phone. With groggy eyes she peered down at the time displayed, 04:56AM. And she had gone to bed at twelve while finishing piles of school projects. Five hours of sleep was not nearly enough time for a human body to function properly.

Her jaws clenched at the realisation that she had just been robbed from another two hours of rest, thanks to Reese.

Just the sound of his name in her head made her blood pressure rise.

With a pounding headache, Nia tiredly ambled towards the kitchen. Switching on the lights, she moved into the space with only the silent hum of the running refrigerator and ticking microwave clock.

Nia grabbed a closed water bottle from the fridge, twisted open the cap and let the cold liquid quenche her parched throat. A sigh escaped her lungs and she rested her aching head against metal door.

At least here was some sort of peace, away from Reese's horrifying pound party.

Her body tiredly slumped against the cool steel surface, but she quickly straightened, shaking out her limbs and slapping at her cheeks. Nia took out an Advil and chugged it down with another swing of water.

There's no point in going back to sleep  now, since the only place where she could actually get some shut eye was in the comfort of her bed, but since that was out of the question she'll just have to sit this one out until work time.

With a quick rummage through the cabinets, Nia sauntered out into the living room, plumbed down on the sofa, sprawled all the snacks beside her, took out the remote and ran through channels mostly news channels discussing the new developed vaccine until finally reaching a movie.

Munching down on her chips all while cursing profanities through the bites at her annoying neighbor, Reese Carmichael.

---

Two hours later Nia stepped out the bathroom, freshly showered with a towel draped around her frame. She walked into her room, thank the heavens Reese has calmed down and the room steeped in silence.

Instead of going to the drawers, Nia crouched on her haunches in front of the piles of duffle bags and card-board boxes, digging out her work uniform.

The bags of clothes had been dumped on her bedroom floor for days, aswell as other items like her hygiene products, shoes, stacks of books, school stationary, drapings, photos of her and Lucy, basically everything she owned except the furniture which she planned on rapping later today.
