"Thank you so much for doing this." Ambar commented.

Monica smiled. "Of course. It's time to forgive and put the past behind us."

Miguel walked into the kitchen. "Everything is all set."

"Thank you, Miguel."

Miguel nodded.

"Are you nervous?" Monica asked.

"Very much so." Ambar replied.

"It'll be okay."

"I hope."

Simon walked in and smiled, waving at everyone.

"Hey." Ambar greeted.

"She's here." Simon told her. "Luna and Alfredo went to get the door."

Ambar nodded. "This is it."

"We'll greet Sharon." Monica announced. "Take a few minutes."

Ambar watched Monica and Miguel walk away, and she took a deep breath. Simon grabbed her hand. The feel of him and staring into his kind eyes was enough to calm her down.

"I'll be by your side." Simon told her. "The entire time."

Ambar squeezed his hand. "I know."

The two walked into the dinning room just as everyone else joined them. Luna and Alfredo sat down, followed by Monica and Miguel. Sharon nodded towards Ambar before joining them, and then Ambar and Simon sat down too.

The dinner was going fine, but a bit awkward. Everyone was giving small talk. But nothing about Sharon's past and everything that has happened.

"So, how did you two get so close?" Sharon asked.

"Well, we have spoken before, of course." Ambar replied. "But there was a big singing competition coming up, I asked for his help."

"Why his help? From what I remember, you can sing."

"I can sing, sure." Ambar told him. "But my biggest talent is skating. His is singing. I wanted his help because he's actually really good."

Simon smiled.

"And that's when you started dating?" Sharon asked.

"Not quite." Ambar replied. "But we became friends."

"We were always paired together for skating and then we soon started hanging out at the Jam and Roller." Simon added.

"I found myself going to the Jam and Roller, hoping to see him." Ambar explained. "I was going through a lot. Feeling like everyone was lying to me. Feeling like nobody cared about me."

Simon took her hand causing her to smile.

"But Simon made sure to make me know that he cared about me. No matter how alone I felt, I knew I could rely on him and trust him. He was the only one that cared when I was sad or mad and chased after me and no matter how many times I screwed up, he was the one that never gave up on me. Always believed in me."

"I have a question." Luna spoke. "When did you both know you were falling in love?"

"I realized after the second time we almost kissed." Simon told her. "At the skating rink. We almost kissed twice and I couldn't deny that I felt something for her anymore."

"I realized when Simon called me one night." Ambar told them. "I was crying, talking to my mirror, insisting nobody loved me.... And then he calls me. Just because he wanted to check up on me, and make sure I was okay, after the very few stressful days I've had. Nobody ever cared that much. And once we hung up, I smiled to myself. And I knew."

"That's sweet." Monica commented.

"But Simon wasn't your first boyfriend." Sharon spoke. "There was Matteo."

"Why bring up Matteo?" Ambar asked.

"Simon wasn't the first person that showed you love." Sharon replied.

"Yes, he was." Ambar told her. "Matteo and I never truly loved each other. And I didn't get much love in my home life. Simon was the first person that taught me unconditional love and showed me that I was worth it."

"But you and Matteo were the Kings and Queen's of the rink."

"We were also jerks back then." Ambar countered. "Things change. I changed."

"Matteo's father is well known."

I don't care about Matteo's family." Ambar told her. "Or his class or social standing."

Sharon stared at her daughter.

"I care about love. And kindness. And what's in somebody's heart. I love Simon, and only Simon. And he's who I choose. He's who I'll always choose."

"I don't approve."

"I don't care."

"Everyone calm down." Miguel ordered.

"Yes, I agree with Miguel." Alfredo spoke. "Sharon, this is not the way to make it right with your daughter."

"My daughter should be with a better man."

"She is." Monica insisted. "Simon is one of the best people I have ever met, and I've known him most his life. Nobody can do better than Simon Alvarez. Ambar is very lucky."

"And from what I just heard, Simon has treated Ambar better and with more love than anybody her entire life." Miguel added.

"There's more important things than love." Sharon told them.

"Like wealth or social standings?" Alfredo asked.

"Exactly." Sharon replied.

"You raised me to believe that." Ambar told her. "But Simon and the Valinte's made me realize something. The most important thing is love and kindness and loyalty and friendship."

"They've poisoned you."

"They've enlightened me."

Sharon stood up. "I don't even recognize you!"

"You never truly knew me!" Ambar exclaimed, standing up too. "You never cared enough to try!"

Alfredo got to his feet carefully. "Everyone calm down!"

"You haven't been good to me." Ambar spoke softly. "But he has. If you want to be in my life, you have to accept who I am now. You have to accept Simon as the most important person in my life."

"You'd choose him over me?"

"Any day."

Sharon sighed nodded "I see."

And with that Sharon turned on her heels and left. Tears in her eyes, Ambar ran up stairs. Luna looked at Simon, who simply nodded and followed her.

Simon ran into Ambar's room. Ambar had her back turned to her. Sinon walked closer to her, but didn't speak and didn't touch her. He waited for her. To see if she was okay with him being there.

But before he could do anything, Ambar turned around and thre her arms around him, crying silently on his shoulder. He wrapped his arms around her, kissed her head, and soothed her.
