Ambar stared out her window in her bedroom. She heard her phone go off, but she ignored it. Someone knocked on her door and walked inside. She could see Luna's reflection in the glass.
"Hey, Ambar." Luna greeted. "Are you okay?"
"Not really. How'd you know?" Ambar asked.
"Simon." Luna replied. "He said you were acting strange after your visit with Sharon."
"Sharon didn't like Simon." Ambar told her. "Or that I'm dating someone like him."
"Someone like him? But he's amazing."
"He's of lower class."
"Oh."
"Yeah."
"And you didn't tell Simon?" Luna asked.
"I couldn't." Ambar replied. "Simon was already nervous to meet her to begin with."
"What are you going to do?"
"I don't know yet."
"You need to tell him."
"I know."

Ambar walked into Jam and Roller. She saw Simon clearing tables and took a deep breath before walking over to him. He gazed at her for a moment before putting his trays down.
"Is everything okay?" Simon asked.
"Not really, no." Ambar replied.
"What's wrong?"
Ambar sighed.
"You can talk to me, Ambar."
"It's my mom." Ambar told him. "Sharon."
"Okay?"
"She didn't like you." Ambar confessed. "She thought I could do better."
Simon sighed. "I see."
Ambar grabbed his hands. "But it doesn't matter. Because I love you, and I'm staying with you. No matter what."
Simon smiled. "I love you too."
Ambar returned the smile.
"But I know that she's your mother."
"And she was never there for me." Ambar told him. "You always have been. You were the only one who was always there for me."
"And I always will be."
"That's why I choose you." Ambar told him. "I will always choose you."
Ambar kissed him and he smiled into the kiss. It was shiet but soft, and it made Simon melt in her arms.
"What are you going to do about your mom?" Simon asked.
"I need to talk to the Valinte's about that." Ambar replied. "But I'll need your help."
"Anything."
Ambar grinned. "Let's plan a dinner."
