Ambar knocked on Simon's door and waited impatiently. A moment later, the door opened, and Pedro stood there. He smiled at her.
"I'm heading to the Roller." Pedro told her, stepping out. "But Simon's inside."
"Thanks."
Ambar walked in as Pedro walked away. Simon was putting his guitar in its case. He looked up when he saw footsteps and grinned at her.
"Hey! How'd it go?" Simon asked, kissing her cheek.
"It went really well." Ambar replied. "It worked. The surgery worked."
I'm so happy for you, Ambar."
"She saw me." Ambar told him. "Sharon could actually see me. We had a sweet moment."
'So, is everything okay between you two?"
"I think it will be. In time."
Simon smiled, kissing the back of her hand. "And I'll be with you every step of the way."
"And that's where I want you to be. Right by my side."
"What's Sharon's plan?" Simon asked. "Once she gets out of the hospital?"
"She doesn't have one yet." Ambar replied. "I have no idea what she's going to do or where she's going to be."
"Well, I'll help you figure it out."
"I'm glad you said that." Ambar commented. "Because I really want you to meet her."
"You do?" Simon asked.
"Of course." Ambar replied. "You're the most important person to me. I want her to meet you."
"Do you think she'll like me?"
"The old her? Not a bit."
Simon frowned.
"But if she has really changed as she claimed to, then I'm hoping."

Ambar and Simon walked through the hospital hall holding hands. Once they reached the door, Ambar took a deep breath before walking in, keeping Simon by her side, just as Sharon walked out of the restroom, the bandages gone, and her eyesight restored.
Sharon smiled when she saw her daughter. Ambar let go of her boyfriends hand and walked over, hugging her mom.
"I'm happy to see you." Sharon told her. "Figuratively and literally."
Ambar laughed, letting go. "Me too, mom."
Sharon looked past her and noticed Simon. "Who is he?"
Ambar smiled nervously. "This is "Simon.... He is my boyfriend."
Sharon narrowed her eyes. "Oh."
"Simon, this is my mom, Sharon. You two never officially met."
Simon stepped forward, holding our hus hand. "It is so nice to finally meet you, Ms. Smith."
Sharon eyed him up and down, sizing him up. Simon got uncomfortable under his gaze, and Ambar watched nervously. After a long moment, Sharon took his hand and shook it.
"You too."
"I'm glad you two finally got to meet." Ambar spoke.
"Me too." Sharon agreed. "The boy who captured my daughter's heart and changed her to who she is today."
"That was all her." Simon insisted. "I was just there for her when she needed somebody."
"The only one there." Ambar grabbed his hand, smiling up at him. "You believed in me when nobody else did, not even me."
Sharon watched them.
"I just saw you for who you truly are."
Ambar kissed him.
"I'm glad you're happy." Sharon told her.
Ambar grinned. "Happier than I have ever been."
"I think I'll get a water from the kitchen."
"I will get one for you." Simon spoke up.
"I appreciate it."
"Do you want something?" Simon asked his girlfriend.
"I'll take a water too." Ambar replied. "Thank you."
Ambar watched Simon leave with a small smile on his face. She turned back, tucking a lock of hair behind her ear. Sharon was watching her daughter.
"What do you think?" Ambar asked.
"Do you care what I think?"
Ambar's eyebrow arched. "What?"
"How'd you meet him?" Sharon asked.
"He came shortly after Luna." Ambar replied. "He's Luna's best friend from Mexico."
"And how did you two start dating?"
"Back when I was.... The old me.... I technically used him. Got close to him, to get him away from Luna, to hurt her.""And?" Sharon pressured.
"His friendship to me was true, and he was kind and understanding and generous...." Ambar smiled at the memories. "He was always there for me. Checking on me randomly and always trying to make sure I was okay. He'd listen to me and.... I started feeling things I had never felt before. And I began becoming a better person without even realizing it.... And even after I had changed and gone dark, he never gave up on me. I hurt him more than anything, but he still loved me and still was there for me when I gave him no reason to be. He saw me. Truly. And always believed in me."
"And what happened to Matteo?" Sharon asked.
"Matteo? We broke up." Ambar replied.
"But why?"
"Because he loved Luna."
"And you let him leave you?"
"I didn't let him. I did everything I could to tear them apart and it worked, for a while.... But I see now that it's his choice, and him leaving me was the best thing that could have happened to me."
"And how's that?" Sharon asked.
"Because if he never left me, I wouldn't have gotten close to Simon."
"I think you can do better than him."
Ambar shook her head. "There is nobody better than him, especially not for me.""At least Matteo was of your.... Social class."
"Excuse me?"
"Simon is at a lower stature then you grew up in."
"That doesn't matter."
"Doesn't it?"
"No!"
Sharon shrugged. "I still think you can do better."
Ambar gaped at her, unable to comprehend what she just said. How could Sharon still think like that? If she knew Simon, then she wouldn't, would she? She'd see how amazing Simon is. She opened her mouth to say something, but nothing came out. Her thoughts were interrupted when Simon walked in, handing them both their glasses of water. Ambar faked a smile, her heart dropping as she watched Sharon pretend to be friendly towards him.
