Cornsnake did not remember falling asleep the night before, but woke up still feeling relatively tired. He blinked the sleep from his eyes and looked around. He groaned as sunlight got into his eyes. A shape moved in between him and the mouth of the cave, blocking him from the harsh glare of the sun. He realized it was Visionseeker staring down at him, and he looked up at her.

"Thanks," he said softly. She flicked her ears and smiled at him.

"Friends," she told him confidently. He grinned, sitting up and shaking out his golden wings. She watched every move he made, as if him waking up for the day was the most interesting thing she'd ever seen. He shifted awkwardly, not used to being watched so intently. He felt his cheeks go hot and red, and she widened her eyes and got closer to him, not at all the shy dragonet she was last night. She made a quick move to touch his face with her talon, and he jumped back in surprise.

"Cornsnake!" she exclaimed. He shivered hearing his name in her voice. Raising an eyebrow in confusion as he watched her point to his face and his face faded back to his normal color.

"Oh, that," he said, laughing. "It's nothing."

"Nothing?" she said, skeptical. It was clear she was confused.

"It just happens when you get embarrassed." She tilted her head, not really understanding, but nodding anyway. She then made a hesitant move to take his talons in hers and began inspecting them, too. He exhaled a breath he didn't realize he was holding. It was like a volt of electricity shocked through him the moment they touched.

"Okay," she said softly. He smiled and looked around the cave, realizing they were alone.

"Where are Cloud and Raindrop?" he asked, raising a brow.

"Hunt," she responded confidently. Cornsnake gave her a sympathetic look. They must have left shortly before he'd woken up.

"I can show you how to do stuff today," he assured her softly. "Get a head start. Okay, Viz?"

"Viz?"

"Short for Visionseeker," he explained. "Almost like a code name. A secret code name, between the two of us. Cool, huh?" Her tail whisked across the floor excitedly, as if this concept was the most exciting thing in the world.

"Very cool," she agreed. "Viz...like it." It was the first almost full sentence she'd ever said. Suddenly, large white wings burst through the mouth of the cave. Sun glinted off his scales, making him glow. Her eyes lit up seeing him, and she padded over to him.

"What did I miss?" he asked. Raindrop followed closely behind him, berries filling her mouth. Cloud held a small deer in his talons, blood staining the tips of them. Visionseeker's eyes widened and she scrambled backwards. Cornsnake looked at her, confused.

"Are you okay?" Cloud asked, visibly puzzled. She had her eyes on the carcass. He followed her gaze and sighed. "Oh. Visionseeker, it's a deer. It's dead."

"Dead?" she echoed. Cloud nodded and poked the deer to prove his point. Visionseeker pointed at the fruit Raindrop came with. "And those?"

"These are strawberries," Raindrop explained kindly. "They're fruit." Cornsnake got up silently and walked to his friends.

"We should go outside," he said quietly. "It's nice out, and she needs to learn how to fly anyways. Outside?" He finished, looking over at her. She stood up nodding.

"Outside!" she exclaimed. Cornsnake smiled at her.

"Are you sure it's safe?" Raindrop said quietly. "What if she falls?" Cornsnake shook his head quickly and glanced at the NightWing.

"I won't let her," he said confidently. "Right, Viz?" She looked at him.

"Viz?" Cloud said, wrinkling his snout, smirking. "Where did that come from?" Cornsnake swallowed hard.

"I-I just figured Visionseeker was a pretty long name," he explained awkwardly, scraping his talons against the ground. "And that Viz would be easier to say."

"Remind me to never leave you two alone again," he said, nudging him playfully. Cornsnake scowled at him and jumped out of reach, hissing. Visionseeker leaned out of the cave, looking around at the outside world hesitantly. He watched her tense up and he shot her a concerned glance.

Raindrop assured them that she'd be fine and urged them out. Cornsnake nudged her side gently.

"I'll go first," Cloud announced loudly. "Cornsnake, dear moons, don't kill her." Cornsnake rolled his eyes and puffed out his chest.

"I wouldn't, would I?" he said. She shook her head, gazing up at him with complete trust. Cloud and Raindrop dove out of the cave, laughing on the way down.

"Ready?" he asked her. She took in a sharp breath and nodded slowly. "You'll be okay. So you open your wings like this and jump. Flap your wings to keep yourself from falling." Her breath quickened. "Hey, seriously. You're going to be okay. They're down there if you need them and I'll be right by your side." She nodded again and opened her wings. He was taken aback by them. They looked like the night sky. Pitch black and filled with stars. He shook away his bewilderment and took flight with her.
