The next morning, you wake up to Enid moving around. You look at her. She's trying to sneak out.
"You do know you're allowed to be here right?"
She turns to you.
"You don't have to sneak out." You say.
"Yeah i uhm... i didn't want to wake you up." Enid says.
You hum.
"Okay. Whatever. See you later." You say.
You lay back down.
"No Y/n come on." Enid says.
"No it's fine. Go. I don't care. Didn't realise it was that big of an ask for you to spend one morning with me." You say.
"It's not but i-"
"You have a boyfriend to hang out with. I know." You say.
"No Y/n. I just... it's hard to split my time fairly." Enid says.
"Then maybe you shouldn't have started dating Ajax and then also start, sort of, dating me at the same time." You say.
"I know this is on me." Enid says.
"Yeah it is. Besides, I'm lucky if i get to spend any time with you anymore. I know he's your boyfriend and that but i mean come on. You have 150 photos of us on your camera roll making out doing the deed. And most them all come from the same night. So i dunno Enid." You say.
"Well look you've chosen to stay in this triangle thing." Enid says.
"Uh yeah maybe cos I've been head over heels for you since i joined Nevermore and I'm taking what i can get right now." You say.
"Look i know this isn't entirely fair on you but i love Ajax, Y/n. That's never gunna change." Enid says.
"Uh yeah i know? You both love each other. You're the schools OTP or whatever. But you like me too. And this isn't fair." You say.
"Well what do you want from me?" Enid asks.
"Nothing. This is it. I'm calling it. No more love triangle. No more being in love with someone who clearly doesn't feel the same as me. I'm not doing it anymore Enid. Whatever the fuck it was that we had, it's done." You say.
"Y/n come on." Enid says.
"No, Enid. No 'come on'. That's it. I've had enough. I deserve better than this. It's my own stupid fault for agreeing to you but you knew i would so. That's it. No more." You say.
"You know you don't mean that. You know you want what we have." Enid says.
"I want what you and Ajax have but I'm never gunna get it with you, am i? And don't look so shocked when i say that cos you know. You know i wanna be with you like Ajax is. But I'm not gunna get that cos I'm the side piece." You say.
"Y/n we can figure this out." Enid says.
"There's nothing to figure out Enid. This is how i feel and as much as i hate it, I'm calling it. No more. We'll go back to being friends. That's it. Go back to the way we were before you and Ajax started dating." You say.
"Is that what you really want?" Enid asks.
"Well no obviously fucking not Enid. What i want is what you and Ajax have. But like i say, I'm never gunna get that with you so that's it. We can still be friends because realistically, you're my best friend. But that's it. No more than that." You say.
"Just take some time to think about it Y/n. I'll bring you the work from Miss Thornhill when the lesson's finished. We can talk about it properly then, okay?" Enid says.
"You're not listening to me Enid!" You say.
"I am but this fucking sucks Y/n! I mean how long have you been thinking about this?!" Enid asks.
"A while Enid! I know it sucks! But try putting yourself in my position Enid! The girl you love, who you are head over heels in love with, is using you as a fuck buddy while her boyfriend is none the wiser! It's not fair! On either of us." You say.
"I know it's not fair Y/n but i...i really like you. I really do. You know i do." Enid says.
"But you like Ajax more. And rightfully so. He's your boyfriend and you two have been like.. in love or whatever since you joined Nevermore." You say.
"Yeah but... Y/n i..."
She sits back next to you on the bed.
"No Enid, if you stay then I'll want you to stay." You say.
"Want me to stay then. Forget the rest of the world, we can just be together today." Enid says.
"What about tomorrow? Or the day after that?" You ask.
"We'll work day by day, okay?" Enid says.
You sit for a second. Enid has a hand on your leg.
"You're gunna spend the whole day with me?" You ask.
"Full day." Enid says.
You sigh.
"Okay. Okay fine. One day at a time." You say.
You could come to regret that at some point but right now, holding hands with the girl you like with her head on your shoulder, you're happy.
Brief scare there. Bet i had you. We're only two chapters in. Not that time yet. Anyways.
