It was a rainy Tuesday, and Jennie had just finished her classes for the day. Deciding to head home early, she texted her friends to let them know. Holding an umbrella, she made her way to the bus stop just outside the school gates. Unbeknownst to her, a pair of eyes followed her every move.
Once under the bus stop shade, Jennie sat down on the bench, stretching her neck sideways. The fatigue from her weekend jobs finally caught up to her, and she felt her muscles ache, her head pound, and her stomach growl. She remembered she hadn't eaten dinner last night due to exhaustion, missed breakfast because she slept through her alarm, and skipped lunch to catch some extra sleep in the library.
As Jennie waited for the bus, a sleek black sports car, a Maserati GranTurismo, pulled up in front of her. The window rolled down, revealing Lisa Manoban.
"Need a ride?" Lisa asked, her voice smooth and confident.
Jennie shook her head. "I'll just wait for the bus."
Lisa sighed, rolling up her window. Jennie thought the heiress would drive away but was surprised when the car door opened and Lisa stepped out. Jennie quickly went over to Lisa, holding her umbrella to shield the heiress from the rain.
Lisa turned to look at Jennie, an umbrella of her own in her hand. Jennie looked down shyly, mentally kicking herself for assuming Lisa didn't have an umbrella.
Of course, she'd have her own umbrella, she's Lisa fucking Manoban. Always prepared and ready, she scolded in herself in head.
They walked back under the shade, Jennie keeping her eyes downcast to avoid Lisa's gaze. Lisa spoke up first, "I don't take no for an answer. Let me take you home."
Jennie looked up, about to refuse, when a strong gust of wind blew through, and the rain started to pour harder. She shivered from the cold, cursing herself for not bringing a jacket. Should've brought a damn jacket.
Lisa noticed how Jennie held herself and quickly took off her own jacket, wrapping it around Jennie's shoulders.
Jennie, surprised by the gesture, could only whisper, "Lisa..."
Lisa placed a hand on Jennie's back, took Jennie's bag in her other arm, and held up Jennie's umbrella over them. "Come on, let's go," she said softly.
Jennie allowed herself to be led to the car, still wide-eyed from the unexpected kindness. Lisa opened the passenger door and helped Jennie inside before getting into the driver's seat.
As they drove away, the rain continued to pour outside, but inside the car, there was a warm silence. Jennie glanced over at Lisa, who was focused on the road ahead. For a moment, she wondered what lay behind the heiress's sharp eyes and cool demeanor.
"Thank you, Lisa," Jennie finally said, breaking the silence.
Lisa gave her a brief, sidelong glance and a small smile. "You're welcome, Jennie. You looked like you needed a break."
Jennie smiled back, a sense of gratitude washing over her. As they drove through the rain-soaked streets she felt a little less tired, and a lot more curious about the enigmatic Lisa Manoban.
As they drove through the rain, Lisa started a conversation. "Have you eaten yet?"
Jennie was about to say no, but her stomach betrayed her with a loud growl at the mention of food. She blushed and looked away shyly.
Lisa smiled charmingly. "I guess I'll take that as a no." She continued driving smoothly and asked, "Do you like sushi? I'm craving Japanese cuisine."
Jennie protested, "You don't have to treat me, Lisa. I can eat at home."
