"So if you just sit here, and then you just snap this when we say action. Say your name and who you're driving for that would be great."
It was Jacob's first glimpse into the popular Netflix docuseries 'Drive to Survive' which made Formula One even more popular than it currently was. Although he had been in the season, he hadn't played a prominent enough role to be interviewed. So far, he had just noticed some of the cameras around him. It was Thursday and he was called in for half the day to sort a few things out before the first practice tomorrow.
"And...action."
"My name is Jake Thompson and I'm the reserve driver for Alpine Formula One team."
"Brilliant, thanks Jake. If we could just get some answers for some questions that would be great."
Jacob nodded, happy to cooperate.
"Firstly, what's your opinion on Alpine dropping Esteban from the last two races of the season and giving you his seat?"
Jacob coughed, they went straight in with the uncomfortable questions. "Well obviously, I'm thankful that I've been given this opportunity to drive an F1 car, any chance I get I'll take it. I think Alpine have seen that this season's basically over for them so it wouldn't hurt to give me a chance in the car. And I'm not staying with the team, so Esteban shouldn't be worried he's going to lose his seat."
"How do you feel about the upcoming Grand Prix in Vegas? It'll be your second Formula One race."
"Well, given my performance the last time I was in the States I feel pretty confident in myself and my abilities. I think I'll be able to do that again, get some more points to my name."
Jacob gave the camera a grin.
"Thanks Jake, that's all we need from you."
