MONTREAL, CANADA. JUNE 2025.

The feeling in the paddock was certainly not a pleasant one, with the McLaren and Ferrari garages being in such close proximity, everyone watched with anticipation to see the dynamic between Thierry and Jacob.

In all honesty, this situation and the drama outside of Formula One really made Jacob hate coming to Canada. He just wanted to get this race over and done with as it meant another week off. He still loved the sport, he just hated everything that was currently associated with it.

If it was up to him, he'd still be with Olivia right now, the two making their way from Germany, to Italy, to Switzerland, to France then Spain and finally Portugal to round off Olivia's European leg.

However, duty called which meant instead of being in Europe, he was currently in Montreal.

Jake qualified with a strong P4 and Thierry's grid penalty saw him fall down to the very back of the pack. There was a relief within Jake, this meant he surely wouldn't have to race against him today. All he had to do was just focus ahead of him and he wouldn't ever encounter Thierry.

The McLaren team at the pre-race meeting indirectly mentioned Thierry. They reminded Jake how important it was to get the car back in one piece. The translation that Jake interpreted was 'don't pick a fight with Thierry and get yourself knocked out'.

It was a fair thing to tell Jake, but Jake wanted to tell them that it wasn't him who caused it. Most of the time it was Thierry's careless driving.

The lights went out and Jake was in hyper-focused mode. He navigated the circuit with ease and was doing well, looking set for a potential podium finish. For Thierry, despite all his faults, it couldn't be denied he was a skilled driver. From the back of the grid he made his way into the midfield and began to push higher and higher to the front of the pack.

"Thierry is behind you, he is currently P7. There is a four and a half second gap. His tyres are fresher than Sainz's and Checo's so keep an eye out."

As Rick predicted, Thierry dispatched his teammate and the Red Bull within a few laps and was soon in Jake's rearview mirror.

Jake was filled with multiple emotions. Dread of what reckless driving Thierry would do now and anger at what his oldest friend had done to him and Olivia.

Rick's voice came out from the radio. "Final lap Jake, final lap. Thierry is just over a second behind. Defend."

"Copy."

The final lap was tense, Thierry was searching for the right moment and Jake was ready for anything. He learnt that he couldn't expect anything from the Ferrari driver, he was so unpredictable. So when in the final corners Thierry launched himself, moving into the inside line of the corner. Jake, aware of the threat, swung his car to the right, blocking Thierry's path. It was a harsh move, pushing the boundaries of fair play. Thierry had to slam on the brakes to avoid a collision, his car twitching as he fought to maintain control.
