DATE DECLASSIFIED: 2023

PROJECT: CAMINUS

Name: USNS Caminus

Laid down: November 19 1988

Completed: December 25 1991

Type: SPSRSS Supermassive Protected Self-sufficient Repair & Supply Ship

The Supply ship was built because the mass expansion of offshore embassies and international military bases. They cannot always rely on local suppliers and it also doubles as a repair ship. Also when it was finished and launched the ship the Soviet Union collapsed so there's that and the US defense budget was getting a bit dry so the ship was for hire for repairs and cargo hauling to pay for itself. Turning into a merchant ship

He was constructed using the hull design of Fortress the original ship. So the engineers pulled out the old designs from the archives. It was pretty good at it's job due to the sheer tonnage it can carry

It as the name suggests was self sufficient you'll find out later

Later after the Soviet Union collapsed the ship served mostly in the cold and icy Alaskan waters delivering supplies all year round to Alaska. As the sheer mass and the lack of a bulbous bow allow it to break through ice as if it was paper

Also the designers and engineers made the hull a wee bit bigger to accomodate more cargo

Hull Length: 1768 meters

Hull Width: 198 meters

Hull Height: 118 meters

Total Height: 169 meters

Displacement (empty) : 5,856,120 tons

Displacement (max): 6,926,478 tons

Armaments:
Main battery

4x triple gun turrets mounted on the side of the superstructure 2 on each side which is hidden by using white thin aluminum covers that can retract

Contains:

3x 406.4mm (16in) guns with 70 meter long reinforced barrels

35° maximum elevation 45 degrees (flooded)

Max range: 80 km

Some insane engineer managed to figure out a system to make the 406mm guns to be "belt-fed" to quote a designer on the ship "We didn't need to do it but we can so we did it" increases fire rate to 120 rpm

Reload time: NO

Ammo capacity: YES ( 300 shells per gun) per gun not per turret

Since the gun is belt fed you can't easily change shell types if at all. So a general purpose shell was developed by using the special gunpowder that leaves a green tracer like effect. And the increased length of the barrels. The shell is given much more velocity thus increasing range and penetration power. And making the shell casings be able to become a part of the propellant there is no need for an ejection system

But since it moves so fast the shell may shatter upon impact so EAHSSS steel was used because of it's strength. The shell also comes with a small explosive charge able to be set off using signals. They can be programmed to detonate upon impact or be timed or not explode at all

And each shell cost about 70,000 dollars

Secondary battery:

10x Mark 45 Mod 4(extended barrel). 127mm gun mounted along the sides of the hull
