The first game we did was laser tag. The teams were just the boys v the rest of us.
After we got our gear on, Belly announced the rules. "Alright every body. The games are best of five rounds. The first and last rounds, everyone plays. The middle round it's a 1-1 so choose your best fighter." With that, the first game began.
The boys beat us and decided to do capture the flag next. So, we nominated Taylor, and the guys nominated Steven.
Steven was climbing up the rock wall with no safety, when Cam runs up saying he needs safety.
"Oh my gosh, hey Cam" I say giving him a side hug. "I thought you were going on some fancy boat thing this summer?" Belly asked. "Fell through" he replied. "Uh, Skye! This is Cam Cameron" Belly says introducing them.
Cam got them hooked up on their harnesses and we cheered for them. "Come on Taylor! You got this" I clapped. Just then, Steven grabs the flag making us 0 for two.
"So where to next?" Cam asks us. "Well, it's their call" I replied. "I don't know about you Ryan, but I think it's time for Shoot Your Shot" Conrad tells me. "Oh, finally ready to loose your winning streak huh?" I say walking towards the game.
Cam counted us down and Con and I took off. Taking one shot at a time. He was smiling. I was smiling. It felt amazing. Cheers were coming everywhere from behind us. Cam was reffing. Suddenly, Conrad misses a shot. This was it. It was all down to my final shot... It bounced on the rim before finally dropping into the basket, giving my team their first win.
"As much as it pains me to say it, it was a good win." "Yeah, well I told you I'd win" I told Conrad. "Well, we finally get to pick, and I choose dancing" I announced.
When we got back to the arcade, Conrad walked with me to the dance game. "Since you know, you're so confident, what do you say about a little side bet?" "What would that be?" "Whoever loses, has to ride the tower of terror". "Conrad, you know, I would say no, but I have nothing to worry about so, you're on". "Okay, tell me how the ride is okay?" "I'm pretty sure it's gonna be you" I told him before he sped off.
Jeremiah approached me, "Did I hear you two talking about the tower of terror. That's gonna end with one of you in tears". "Maybe, but better him than me no?" "I guess." I said as we approached the game.
The boys had Lucas play and Skye played for us. "It's just math with your feet" I told them, "Lucas can't dance very well anyways". As I suspected, Skye whipped the floor with Lucas and won.
The final game was go cart racing. The wind in my hair felt amazing. The first lap was pretty easy and I was taking the lead. I could hear Conrad behind me but I didn't want to listen to him, I wanted to focus on the game. That wasn't enough just as I was about to finish the final lap, Conrad snuck up beside me and beat me.
The dreaded time had come upon me. The tower of terror. My heart was racing and I could feel the sweat form on my face. As I approached the ride and sat down, I looked up and saw Jeremiah walk up after me.
"No one said you had to do this alone". "I'm not that scared, but be my guest" I told him holding my arm out to invite him to sit. As the ride rose up, he took my hand and looked at me. I've seen that look before. I've had that look before. I've looked at Conrad like that my whole life. I didn't know was to say afterwards. All I knew is that the night was over and it was time to go back to the house.

When we got back to house, everything was different. It was stripped. No pictures on the walls. No rugs on the floor. Everything was gone. Nothing about this house said "Susannah Fisher". Nothing about this house said "home".
There was no more pretending. This was real. Susannah was gone. Soon, the house would be too.
