I should stay away from both...this situation is turning into a fucking t.v drama.

Sitting at the table with breakfast covering it from left to right, Gerald pours me juice while doing the same for Nolan and Linus.

"I'm going to try and persuade the bureau to let me back to work before I can, I think that will help create a good distance between us three."

Linus bites into an apple while Nolan eats the crepes Gerald made.

"I know I missed your parents' funeral so I sent flowers to their burial plaque and I'll have someone look into getting rid of your name off the blacklist for work."

Excusing myself, I go and get ready putting on a beige pantsuit with a white bandeau top underneath layering a necklace and a charm bracelet with diamond shape drops for the final aesthetic of the look.

"The car," I tell Gerald who washes his hands and takes the apron he had off while going out to the front to pull the car up.

Both Linus and Nolan stare at me as I wait but I keep looking forward not wanting either one of them to think I'm choosing by who I look at.

"Be safe," Nolan says while Linus stands going over to me until I see the car.

"Thanks," I open the front door while going to the car as Gerlad holds the car door open for me.

Once I'm strapped in, Gerald takes me to HQ while I brace myself for how they might react.

"Cigarette, I need one," I check in my clutch but don't see any.

Gerald grabs a pack holding it out to me, "Here," Having a lighter with it as well I smile.

"Thanks Gerald," I open the pack then place one in my mouth, lighting it.

I pushed down the window button so the smoke could release outside instead of in the car.

"It'll work out Miss," Gerald says assuring me looking in the rearview mirror.

That one second he took off the road, that one second he took to reassure my anxiety, the torn jersey woman who was haunting Gavin jumped out in front of the car having it spin and skid off to the side having a semi truck lose control getting ready to do more damage.

"Devlin! Get out!" Gerlad says already knowing what might happen if I don't.

Tugging on my seatbelt, it gets more jammed having me stuck in place with nowhere to go as the truck is two seconds from ramming into us.

"Devlin!"

Headlights and a car horn blaring throughout the yelling of my name takes my attention only having a quick moment to call out a name...Nolan.

Everything reverses with now me in Nolan's arms and Gerald looking back to an empty seat with the semi truck all the way in a ditch off to the side.

"I got you," Nolan says as I cling onto him more shaken by what was about to happen...by me almost dying.

For a quick minute something hit me, my anklet, I looked down to see it gone, nowhere in sight.

"Shit," My heart drops to my ass as I know losing my anklet and me almost dying means the Death Chaser curse has finally caught up with me.

Nolan takes me back to his home instead of mine as I'm a walking bullseye for death.

"How the hell am I going to outrun a twenty-three year curse that should have taken me out years ago?"

Pacing while smoking a cigarette, Nolan just watches me become unhinged.

"I can figure something out," Nolan says, grabbing onto my waist having me sit at the edge of the bed with him.

Putting out my cigarette in an ashtray he made appear on the nightstand, I grip the edge of the bed bowing my head panicked. His cold hand rubs my back, comforting me, showing me he was there when I needed it the most. I looked to the side, seeing his eyes land on mine. "Don't get mad when I tell you this, okay?" He says as he's guiding his hand to hold mine, "There's one way but it still includes you dying...just not as painfully as any other death that's trying to catch up with you," About to yank my hand away, he grips it tighter, "Let go Nolan," I say, already strung out on panic.

Taking my hands to his lips, he kisses them then has a book of his appear right in front of us levitating.

"Be my afterlife wife, be my everything for eternity, I promise you, I won't love anyone but you. I won't ever let you be in sorrow, I will always fill your cup so it would never empty, for you I would do anything just try and love me the way I so truly love you," He breathes out seductively but sincerely while having his eyes glisten with faint tears.

Gloss comes over my eyes really feeling I have no other choice and don't have enough time to say no.

"Okay..." I whisper out which makes him kiss my lips tenderly, relieved I would reciprocate what he's been giving me from the start.

The love, the loyalty, everything I wanted was in Nolan...now I just have to let go and try doing the same even if he wasn't human...even if it was the cause of my inevitable death I've been protected from for so long just to die with him instead.

His cold touch started to imprint into my skin, leaving no room for doubt that he was mine and I was his.

"How will it happen..." I asked as his lips were now on my neck.

Slowly finding my gaze, he backs away, knowing he's getting too carried away.

"I'm sorry...I wasn't thinking..."

The one thing he knew to be true was lust did play a big part in loving me.

He had kept telling himself it wasn't but the way he was about to lay me down on his bed made it seem otherwise.

"Let me go home for the night...I need to at least have a night to wrap my head around this."

Nolan doesn't look back at me as he sends me to my bed but sleep never sided with me and my thoughts were running wild having me wide awake.
