Running was all I could do as every deathly creature chased after the only soul pure in their world.
Once they caught a whiff it was game over.
The unknown voice disappeared with no encouragement on getting out of here without dying again.
Except this time I wouldn't be brought back as a soul.
I found a frozen lake ready to dash across it but once my right foot hit the ice it cracked.
It was too late to turn around as the ice made a louder cracking noise once I placed my left foot on the glazed thin frozen surface.
Wagging of a desolated creature ends up sniffing behind me, ready to rip into my soul but I took a leap and ended up plunging into the ice cold water.
The ice floats above the opening to where I fell.
As I was about to drown with the water piercing my lungs quickly with the frigid water, a hand grabbed me, pulling me to the surface.
"I told you I would find you," The voice was familiar but the face didn't match it.I coughed violently then hypothermia started to kick in somehow as I shook with my lips turning vividly more blue from no blood circulation as I was dead already.
"The voice...it said I had to redeem or die here..." Picking me up bridal style, they took me away to a lodge that looked deserted until you actually went inside.
I've never seen anything so huge but small like it was in this abandoned yet comfortable lodge.
"W-Why am I freezing?" I say with my teeth chattering.
Placing me on the bear-like rug that was there, they picked up a few stranded pieces of firewood and tosses it into the fireplace that was there.
"Death limbo is a tortuous place that I wish you didn't have to endure."
Taking off their jacket, shirt and jeans, they huddled near me to bring up my warmth even though I didn't have any while they brought the rug closer to me to stop the shakes.
"How are you them without them knowing?" I asked while seeing the true face of the person that was there with me and not the person possessing them.
"They know, they just aren't happy about it."
I held onto the warm body wondering how can I not be transparent when Gerald went to help me his hand went right through me.
Burying my face into their chest I could hear their heart racing but they embraced me closer, wrapping their arms around me.
"24 hours of being dead and it's already been eventful," I mumbled out.
They laid a kiss on my forehead with lips unknown to me...creating goosebumps that I once could feel when I had a body.
"You have a lot of questions, some being of how can I even be holding you, touching you, kissing you. Since we wedded and you drank the liquid in the church, we're connected no matter what body I possess. If I wasn't possessing this body it wouldn't be so unfamiliar to you but they were the only one I could think of at the moment."
Raising their hand to my face, he caresses it, looking into my eyes.
"Won't they hate kissing me...touching me..." I say low feeling a bit shy for the first time being around them without them having control of what Nolan does or says in their body.
Nolan shook his head, "We have one thing in common, we both want to protect you...love you."
My mind spirals in mental anguish to how any of this was possible.
It was like being with two people at once while one has to sit back and watch what the other does to me...for me...with their hands...their mind.
"It'll be okay, we promise," Both voices merged at once showing the true owner of the body I was snuggling with.
"What happens when the body you're using ends up getting hurt or worse? Do you have to go out and find another body to possess?"
Nolan shook his head, "This body won't go anywhere. This body is just temporary until Rowen thinks I'm really gone."
The person's voice sneaks out again as Nolan says something but I block it out as a whistling noise plagues my head again.
Gripping onto their arms, the whistle gets louder, loud enough to have actual tears drop from my eyes.
"Love," They hold onto me worriedly.
Thirty more seconds and the noise stops just causing me to weep in pain.
"It's not going to stop until we're out of here..." I say choking on my words now looking up with more tears falling down.
The lodge gets pelted with snow pellets as the atmosphere grows colder where we are because of us.
"I'll find a way," Nolan kept holding me until I fell asleep with the warmth of the body he had.
There was no real time in place of where we were so even if it was morning time, we couldn't tell because it was always night there.
So when I came to after getting some sleep, I saw Nolan putting more wood in the fireplace.
"I'll try and find some clothes for you so you don't have to stay in those," He says without turning back to know if I was awake or not.
Taking the rug off me and letting it slip to the ground with the rest of what I had on, their eyes fell on my body without hesitation showing it was more of the person he was possessing than himself staring so desirable at my unclothed ghostly body.
"What are you doing..." Nolan says but has no control now of walking up to me and placing the lips he's borrowing on mine.
What were my intentions? Was I really curious how far it would go? Or did I just want to see how far they would go?
Kissing me more, their hands wandered everywhere, never wanting to stop.
A tug to my bottom lip has Nolan forcing the lips away, taking a step back and shaking his head.
"I might be crazy for you but I won't use another man's body to please you."
Going to get the clothing, I spot more snow piling in, crows gathering and creature eyes prowling around waiting for us to come outside.
