"Fine. Here, take your reward." The demon snapped his fingers. His hooves scraped against the wooden floor while the room sweltered. Great horns brushed the ceiling of the room. He looked as if a monster was stuffed into a teacup.
The girl who stood before him held herself up proudly. Her shoulders were pulled back and her body was squared up against the beast. Then pain exploded throughout her back like hot fire. The pain dripped through her body like molten lava. She winced and clenched her fists and the hot pain seeped into her body. Yet she still held herself up. She didn't think it could get worse until it did. Another wave of pain ripped through the core of her body and her back split open.
Her black hair fell into her face as the pain exploded through her body, causing her to give up and fall to the floor. The demon grinned as his face studied her reaction. A look of victory was on his smug face as he stood there watching.
The pain faded like hot wax running off her and she could feel power flow through her in its place. She snapped her head up, and her storm-gray eyes fell upon the demon standing before her. There was a fire in them, a deep burning anger. And that feeling was stronger than the pain she just went through.
She stood, never taking her eyes off him, as more power flowed through her. She grinned at him and opened her newly spouted wings. A few muscles in her back flexed as she tested her new glory. She folded them in front of herself to get a better look. Reaching a hand outwards, her fingers brushed against the leather membrane between the black bones.
The demon walked over to her and ran a long finger down her jawline. The extra joints made it bend almost backward. "Now, always remember what you did for these." Without another word or movement, he vanished into the thin air. Leaving nothing but wings to tell of his visit.
The girl opened her eyes to find herself lying in her bed, blankets a twisted mess. After she pulled herself from the twisted mess, she walked over to her bedroom mirror. In it, she saw a slender figure with a fair face. She let her eyes run down her figure. She had nice curves, but that's not what would catch eyes now, she thought to herself. She unfurled her new wings, a smile spreading on her face. "All worthwhile, right, Sharlotte?" she asked herself.
