Taylor walked into the room munching on chips. It always amused Shar that her friend always seemed to be eating, yet was as thin as a rail. "So, Batty, I never did get the chance to ask you, can you fly?"

Shar sighed and shook her head she almost chuckled at the comment. "Not fly, I can glide, that's about it. Sorry to disappoint you, Taylor."

"Oh ok." Taylor sounded only slightly disappointed before she smiled a wicked grin and looked at Esme. Esme shook her head before Taylor could even ask. "Drat."

Shar looked at the clock, 6:30 p.m., "I guess I should be getting you home Esme. You as well Taylor, and don't give me that look." Shar grinned at the cat-girl as she made a disgusted face. It was the same thing every weekend. But the truth was, Shar hated this moment just as much.

Esme sighed heavily as she gathered her things. Taylor bounded down the hall. Esme looked at Shar. "The spare room has a dresser, she keeps her stuff here." Sharlotte looked at Esme and smiled. "You're welcome to do the same."

Esme smiled and said, "Thanks Shar, it's nice to know someone's there."

Shar hugged her tight, savoring the moment as Taylor returned with a small bag of her things. Her walk back was a bit slower than her normal gate. "Alright kids, let's get going," Shar said as she smiled and took Esme and Taylor's bags. Shar threw both bags into the back of the Jeep as the girls climbed in. Idle chit-chat was heard as Shar drove them home.

Shar pulled into the drive. The ride home had been nothing but silent reflection and she hated this part. Alone. She was used to it, but it never seemed to get any easier. Ever since the night her parents kicked her to the curb, she had been alone. In fact, it was a bit before that. Hearing the news about her brother's death, then her girlfriend. That was the moment that started it all.

She sighed softly walking into her silent apartment. The entire building seemed to be silent that you could hear the beams creak under the cool night air. Sharlotte always got depressed after weekends like this. She missed her friends, their laughter, and even Taylor's hyperness. Their noise filled the void.

She silently drifted into the kitchen and made herself a cup of tea. Suddenly a large white cat jumped onto the counter. It had a very wild look in its amber eyes. The cat sat there looking at Shar. "Hey, Persia. I know, your glad they're gone, but I know you still miss her too." Shar's voice was soft and slow as she thought about Vivian. She ran her hand softly down the cat's spine. Persia arched into it purring softly. The white beast leaped down and ran off down the hallway.

Shar snickered, "It's almost like I don't even have a cat." Shar shook her head and walked down the hall and into her bedroom. Setting her cup on the dark-stained dresser, she opened a drawer and pulled out a sleek black silk gown. She placed it next to her cup on the dresser and looked hard at a small white bottle. She slowly opened it and shook out two small white pills, popped them into her mouth, and swallowed.

She sighed as she looked at the top of the dresser. Her eyes welled up slightly. She heard a soft 'mew' and took a deep breath. "Thanks, Persia. I'm not too sure if Vivian left you to me for ME to take care of YOU, or for YOU to take care of ME." Shar smiled softly and ruffled the cat's head. She quickly picked up her gown and tea heading toward the bathroom. Hot water quickly filled the bathtub as Shar quickly stripped. She lit a few candles and sunk herself into the scalding water. She closed her eyes and tried to soothe herself and wash away the pain-filled memories. The drugs could only do so much. And she hated them.
