Another day came, and I had to go to school early since my class would start early too. I drove my car towards the parking area after I arrived at school and began to walk towards my department building. It was just a ten minutes walk.

Halfway there, I noticed a crowd of students gathered ahead. Curiosity piqued, I slowed down and watched them from a distance. The girl's posture was tense, and her expression was a mix of determination and nervousness. It quickly became apparent that she was confessing her feelings to Janrick.

As I neared the crowd, my heart sank at the all-too-familiar scene. A girl standing in front of Janrick with full confidence, handing him a letter. Janrick, as usual, remained emotionless, staring at the letter in her hand. The crowd of students watched in anticipation, waiting to see what would happen next.

The girl took a deep breath and spoke, her voice trembling slightly. "Janrick, I've liked you for a long time. Please accept this letter."

Janrick's face remained a mask of indifference as he glanced at the letter. "I'm certain that you're aware that i never accept things like that," he said bluntly, his voice cold and unyielding.

The girl's face fell, and she slowly withdrew her hand, clutching the letter tightly. She nodded, still looking down. "I understand," she whispered, turning away with tears brimming in her eyes. She turned away, wiping her eyes, and walked off towards her car. It was clear that she had prepared for this outcome, but it didn't make the rejection any less painful for her.

What Janrick said might sound harsh, but she should know better. I mean, everyone knows how he treat those who confess their feelings towards him, so what happened to her should be one of the things she's probably aware of. But nonetheless, she still got hurt.

Well, who wouldn't? The girl probably did lots of thinking, and what she did there took courage and braveness (which I don't have).

Janrick watched her go. His expression remained unchange. When the girl is nowhere to be seen, everyone started to scatter around and go back to what they were doing before the drama started until it was only Janrick who's left standing in his position.

I couldn't help but let out a sigh. I was about to turn back when I suddenly caught Janrick's eyes. He was looking at me. He still didn't have any expression, but it still made my heart pound fast. My heart raced, a mix of fear and something I couldn't quite name. I tried shaking off the unease, but it lingered like a shadow, sending a shiver feeling down to my spine.

Shit! I felt like my feet rooted to the spot. I can't even make a single move. I was just looking at him, even unable to look away, so he is.

The longer he stared at me, the more my pulse quickened. We were just staring at each other until a small smirk appeared on his lips. It was a subtle, almost imperceptible change, but it was enough to send nerves into me overdrive. My heart pounded wildly in his chest, and I knew I had to break free from this invisible grip.

Without thinking anything, I tore my gaze away and quickened my pace, the echo of my footsteps loud in the now-empty space. I could still feel Janrick's eyes on my back, the smirk still burning in my mind.

I wanted to get away really fast, so I didn't stop. I knew I couldn't. I just needed to get away, to find a place where I could breathe again.

"What happened? Why were you running?" Patch asked the moment I entered the classroom door, his eyebrow raised. I was still catching my breath with my hands on my chest. Patch's eyes were still on me. Even some of our classmates were looking at me. They were clearly confused.

"I... I didn't want to be late." Excuses... You're clearly making excuses, Davian.

Patch stared at me, sceptical. "Class doesn't start for another thirty minutes, dude. There was no way you were worried about being late. What really happened?"
