I look at Pico, whose face is very red from...something?

Could he be upset?
Embarrassed from something?

I look at Skid and Pump who are both giggling to themselves. "Pico...? You okay dude?"

"Ah— yeah, I'm fine. These two are jus' bein' a handful as always." He laughs it off. I fiddle with my snakebites a bit before changing the topic. "I got new jewelry for all my piercings," I sheepishly hold up the bag containing the items.

"Miss Y/n! Are piercings the things on your nose and lips?" Skid excitedly asks. I nod and smile at their curiosity. They both climb on me to look at my piercings.

"I'll admit, they are pretty badass." Pico shoves his hands in his pockets.

"Here you two, I know your mom said no candy today, but I got you both a little something." I pull out two lollipops for them, and their eyes light up with pure joy.

"THANK YOU MISS Y/N!" They say in unison. They both gratefully take their treats and begin snacking on them. I feel Pico's eyes on me.

"You ain't half bad with kids."

I give him a warm smile and he looks away, pretending to be unimpressed.

Little did I know, he felt fuzzy for some unexplainable reason every time I did that and he still had yet to figure out what exactly it was.

5:45 PM
After spending the majority of the day at the mall window shopping and getting a few items here and there, we called it a night and started to head back home.

Lila stood in the kitchen making a phone call when we got back inside the house, both kids hugging her. She left money for both Pico and I on the dining room table.

"Miss Y/n, do you have to leave so soon?" Skid and Pump ask with puppy eyes. I kneel down to them near the front door. "I promise this will not be the only time you see me, okay? Just be patient and I'll be back before you know it." Immediately they become happy once more. I stand up, motioning to Pico that I'm ready to go and we head out the front door.

"Hey uh... you wanna crash at my place tonight?" He asks.

"Sure. I need to pack my bag really quick though, so we gotta make a pit stop over at my apartment."

Pico agrees and we start heading in the direction of my apartment.

"I think I got everything." I tell Pico as I lock my front door. He flips his Uzi in his hand and places it into his pocket, walking with me to his place. I look up at the night sky, following Pico unaware that he was taking a small detour from the usual route.

We end up in an abandoned subway station, not too far from the one near the Newgrounds office. I look at Pico confused as we hop from subway to subway. "Jus' trust me, okay?" He says, hopping down onto the gravel and turning to me, waiting. The drop was much further than I had anticipated. "Pico, I don't think I'll make that." I say nervously.

He readies himself and holds his arms out. "I'll catch you."

A bit flustered, I decide to not think much of it and hop down, shutting my eyes tightly waiting for Pico to miss me completely and hit the cold, hard gravel. But it never came.
