One knight... two knights... three... four–six, and even more! And they all seem strong! What I wouldn't give to spar with one– or two– or three of them at the same time! I like to think I've gotten very well used to my body now so it shouldn't be an issue! O-of course, I have to get prior approval from Alfred if I wanted to fight even one of them– which I doubt he'd allow, but still! What I would give to see how they'd fare! Ah, I should probably wipe off the grin on my face before any one of them realizes I've been staring for too long. I guess I failed my little test though since I started watching them to see if I could stop myself from making that expression, but I failed within seconds.
As for how a dozen Royal Knights ended up in the Velisaria capital estate– Alfred had insisted an intruder broke into my room and attacked me when I was alone in my room. He then informed old man Phillippe and the royal family about what happened, and since they arrived last night, they've been standing guard and patrolling in shifts since then.
I don't know why Alfred thought someone broke in and attacked me though– sure, he also insisted he found me "in a trance," but I just fell asleep from exhaustion! If someone did broke in, I would have sensed them and they surely wouldn't have gotten the chance to knock me out. In a world where majority of the population exudes trace mana, there's no one with hostile intentions who would have gotten 20 feet near me without me noticing. Still, if it put Alfred's mind in peace, then the least I could do was cooperate. He squeezed me so much and looked as white as a sheet when he woke me up, and it reminded me of when I first woke up in this body. I don't doubt that he thought he almost lost me again. So now, here they are, courtesy of the royal family. AT LEAST LET ME SPAR WITH ONE OF THEM, PLEASE! I'VE BEEN SO BATTLE-STARVED!
"Master Julius, I apologize for making you wait." Speaking of Alfred, here he is! And with one of the Royal Knights! Yay! Can I fight him?! Is what I would ask, but I still doubt Alfred would let me spar.
"I wasn't inconvenienced so there's nothing to apologize for, Alfred. And this is?" I asked, referring to the Royal Knight with him. He was clad in the same heavy-duty armour as the other Royal Knights, with the royal family's insignia embroidered on his surcoat.
"This is Sir Calmette, he will be supervising your supplementary lessons today. Sir Calmette, this is Master Julius." Alfred introduced the two of us, and we both gave each other a bow. Ugh. Sir. I'm getting flashbacks to my time with the Paladins. The thought made me shiver, but it's alright. I'm far away from those assholes– sort of– but at least I'm away from their shitty bureaucracy!
"I'm grateful for the opportunity to be taught by an esteemed knight as yourself." I greeted him as I straightened my body.
"I'm honoured as well, Master Julius. I'm unsure with the knights of other territories, but you have quite the reputation among the Royal Knights. I hope our presence in the estate has not given you any grievance," he sounded apologetic, but I didn't really mind.
"Oh, on the contrary, you guys are like eye-candy," I blurted out and I subconsciously licked my lips. I realized what I said and did a moment too late, and my eyes widened. Fuck, didn't I already snap out of my battle mentality?! I could tell Sir Knight was unnerved by it, but all I could do was look away and make sure I wasn't drooling on top of that!
"P-pardon?" He asked, obviously taken aback by my comment, and Alfred was also surprised by my comment.
"I meant, you're here to keep me safe. A sweet gesture from the royal family– like candy, that's what I meant." I lied through my teeth– but I know what I really meant, Sir Knight knows what I really meant– there was no question what I really meant! I sound like a creep! Dammit, I can feel my face turning bright red!
