"My name is Arin Jia Solace. I'm the manager of this humble store." The man before us introduced himself, and my eyes went wide. Arin... Solace? Like the inventor of Elysirites? This is that Solace guy?
"Solace? You wouldn't happen to be related to the creator of Elysirites, would you?" He asked. Just like me, Alfred reacted to the manager's surname with intrigue, however, he came to a much different conclusion to mine. Damn, different first names then? I should have read back and found the Solace guy's name.
"Yes, I'm the youngest sibling." Arin answered with a chuckle like he's used to the question. "I'm in charge of the physical store and general logistics– the 'boring' parts of the job as my sister called it," he joked heartily, though there was still a self-deprecating tone in his voice. He stole a glance at me as he chuckled but immediately looked away as soon as our eyes met– not before I noticed him holding back a smile. What the fuck was that? Is this guy's brain fucked?
"But you're not here to listen to family blues," he joked again, then he finally ushered us through the entrance, "Please follow me inside. Per your appointment, I will lead you to our VIP section while your Elysirites are taken by our store's mages to be replenished. Feel free to ask any questions at all, I am more than happy to answer them."
Arin walked inside first. I saw Alfred smiling at me in the corner of my eye and he said something before briefly following the manager, but I had other thoughts occupying my mind. This is going to be a pain, and when I thought I'd get a chance to see more of this world's spells!
"Mister Mage, I have an order for you." I stopped the two escort mages before they could follow behind Alfred and Arin.
"H-huh? M-mister mage? Were you talking to me or him, young master?" One of my escorts confusedly asked. He was the taller of the two.
"Either of you. Run and get a doctor to this store. Tell them it's overexposure. And bring the carriage." I told them nonchalantly.
"'Overexposure?' A doctor? Do you feel unwell, young master? Should we get Master Fontaine?" The one who asked was the shorter of the pair. I'm comparing their heights, but the difference in their heights is only about 1-2 inches. They're about two heads taller than me currently, who's about 5-foot-3, but I think it's just because I'm still pretty young. If I was in my old body, I'd tower over them easily.
"No need to bother Alfred for now. Just get a doctor here quickly. And whoever stays better keep quiet about it." I warned them. If I'm lucky, I'd get to see a specialty spell before the doctor is needed. I hope I get enough time.
I looked over at Silas who'd been staring at me since I gave my first order, and I asked him a simple question, "I hope you'd understand to let the doctor come inside when they return, yes?"
"Y-yes, of course." He promptly answered.
"Thank you, much appreciated." I smiled. With that, the taller escort mage ran off, leaving me and the remaining Mr. Mage to follow Alfred and Manager Arin.
"Master Julius? Where is–" Alfred began the question, but I immediately cut him off.
"I told him to buy some candy from a store down the street. He'll be back soon enough." I don't want to waste this opportunity.
"I-I see." He thankfully didn't push any further.
We stopped by a corner of the store where a long counter closed off a pair of double-doors. There were two mages manning the counter, both wearing maroon capelets– similar ones to what Alfred and my escorts were wearing actually, only in different colours and a brass brooch of the store's seal. The escorts had scarlet capelets and wore brooches bearing the insignia of the royal family and my family, while Alfred is wearing a black capelet, and only the Velisaria family insignia on him. These two mages are a rank or two lower than the escorts, if I didn't remember wrong.
