Quietness paired with internal chaos is never a good couple for a person. But that is all Chavi was for the past few days. Darsh was gone and she had no right to complain about it. The palace seemed silent without Aloki. Adarsh was with her and yet there wasn't a lot they could do now that Hiranmayi was no more.

The two sat in the Laasya Sabha, the visuals of their performance and the joy around the theatre still lingered in the fondest corner of their mind. Chavi let out a long sigh.

"What now?" Adarsh asked. The king and queen were mildly disappointed about the letter that was addressed to them with their daughter's name for the sender.

"We should let the situation dissipate before doing anything else." Chavi said as though it was not the most important thing in her life at the moment. Knowing who her birth parents were, for a moment, and then losing them immediately was unsettling to say the least.

"I can go visit this supposed village in the north as addressed in the letter and find out who sent it."

"Let's just...not focus on that for a moment, Adarsh. We still have a lot at hand. We've had a sudden drop in budget due to the expenses of alliance. We need to recover that. We also need to strengthen the walls so we may have no attack again."

"Don't keep running from who you really are."

"You can't run if you aren't even able to walk." Chavi said and stood up, gesturing towards the stage, "For old time's sake?"

Adarsh sighed with a sad smile, "I fear no one will hit us on our knees if we make mistakes, so might as well not do it."

Chavi understood the grief Adarsh was going through. He had known her longer. She simple gave his shoulder and squeeze and comforted him. Just then, a messenger tracked them down, a look of disdain on his face.

"Maharaja is asking for both of you." He said and left.

"I think we've been betrayed." Bhargavadeva spoke, carefully even.

"There is no chance, Maharaja. Maharaj Darsh isn't the type to go back on his promises." Chavi defended in the courtroom.

"How would you explain the lack of things we were supposed to receive regarding the alliance?"

"They surely must be on their way." Adarsh pitched in.

"The ships which was sent to Ashokdhar with the cows and our gifts have already returned. With nothing in them. The sailor's request to meet the king was denied." Bhargavadeva spoke, aggression and disappointment both evident in his tone.

Chavi turned away from the conversation, closing her eyes and gripping the end of her saree with a grip that turned her knuckles white.

Darsh had no reason at all to do such things. He would have had the sailors rest in the palace chambers rather than denying their request to meet him. He who wouldn't even break his promise of getting her a rose, breaking a political alliance was indeed a grave matter. Chavi sighed and turned around.
