Hello everyone! I didn't really like the story Amy-Rose I was writing, and it didn't seem too popular either so I decided to start this one instead so I hope you
enjoy it! Eleanor xx

'Do it!' 'Just do it!' my mind was screaming.

I was home alone. My mum was at work, as usual; it's been the same for the past 6 nights. She works at the bar 'The Lions' just round the corner from our little flat in our little village that we live in. Nothing big.

And it's been like this for the past 3 years when my mum lost her job and we had no money because of it. That was a hard time for my mum.

But today I was determined to find out.

To find out why my dad left me and my mum 11 years ago.

Whenever I asked the question it was just a "Sorry darling, I'm busy at the moment, maybe we can talk later?" However by "busy" I realised that she wasn't busy. She just didn't want to talk about it did she?

But why?

I guess that she could be upset, but surely she would have got over it by now
? Surely.

So I decided to go to her office. The one place where I am not ever aloud to go in.

Ever.

So this must be where the secret is hidden.

I reached out for the handle, my hand trembling with fear. I knew that this was a bad idea however how else was I supposed to find out? I hated the feeling of lying.

The door creaked open and there was complete darkness. I fumbled for the light switch which flicked on and everything became clear.

I didn't really know what I was looking for so the first thing that came to mind was the computer. I sat on the desk chair and switched on the screen.

Luckily it was already logged on. However, nothing was left open. Unfortunate.
I decided to check some of old files and photos to see if there was anything however all there was was just old photos of me which I have already seen before; none of my dad though.

After minutes of searching, I couldn't find anything and didn't seem there was going to be anything else to find; I gave up on the computer idea.

I looked around to if there was anywhere else where this secret could be stored. I noticed that one of the draws in the filing cabinet was labelled 'Mia'. This could be it! I thought. I rushed over and opened it.

I rummaged through old photos and files and came across something. It was my birth certificate. It read, "Mia Jones, Born on the 12th of April 2000 at 12:34pm" and then my parents signatures.

I decided this could be helpful and kept it in the palm of my hand tightly. I noticed another thing.

Another birth certificate.

Was this an extra copy or something?

No it can't be.

I picked up and read it. It said "Kate Jones, born on the 12th of April 2000 at 12:46pm" and my exact parents signatures.
