Chapter 3~Breaking The News

Sarah sliced open the cake and divided it into 4 equal slices, handed to us with a small little plate and fork. We decided we couldn't wait until Saturday to eat it; it looked too good to not eat.

"This looks utterly delicious you two, well done!" Sarah exclaimed.

"Ah thanks Sarah" I replied, while Eddy was happily munching away on his slice of cake.

"More, more, more!" Eddy shouted; he obviously had loved the cake more than we did.

Sarah groaned.

"You can have one more tiny slice Eddy; otherwise your tummy's going to pop with cake!" She exclaimed and started tickling Eddy's tummy with her hands. Eddy was then in fits of laughter.

"So what do you want to do now?" Asked Jake as we handed our plates to Sarah who started loading the dishwasher.

"Well I think I better get home now; I haven't seen my mum all morning." I exclaimed.

"Okay, that's fine. Talk later?" He asked.

"Sure!" I replied.

"See you later!" Sarah exclaimed, and I waved goodbye to Jake as I walked out the door.

As I walked into the kitchen I found mum cooking lunch listening to the afternoon Radio; she always seemed to be doing a little jig every now and then as she chopped vegetables and peppers to the songs.

"Ah, hello hun. How are you? How was last night?" She asked as I walked in.

"Hi mum, sorry I was round Jakes. And it was good thanks.." I lied.

"Ah good." She exclaimed.

I still didn't know how or what I was going to tell her. Do I leave it until she tells me? Or should I wait until we're having lunch and break the news? I thought that seemed like the best idea otherwise I would have been worrying about it for the next month.

As we sat down at the table, mum handed me my salad and we started eating. I couldn't eat though. I think its from eating all of the cake and that huge breakfast earlier, so I ended up just starring at it stirring pieces of lettuce around the bowl.

"Are you okay Mia? Why aren't you eating your lunch?" Mum asked.

My mum always notices the slightest things about me and starts to worry.

"I'm fine mum, it's just that Sarah said I could join them for breakfast and then me and Jake baked a cake, which filled all of us up." I lied again; well too be honest I was quite full, I was just worried what my mum was going to say when I told her.

"Okay then, but you look like you have been thinking a lot today?" Mum still replied.

"Ugh okay mum here's the thing; but don't be mad at me okay? Right so where do I begin.." I started, and told her everything about the office and finding the birth certificate and dad; practically everything.

Once I had finally finished mum just looked at me with a shocked face and a sign of not knowing what to do.

"Umm I don't know what to say!" Mum said looking straight into my eyes; honestly I think she was just surprised at the fact that I had found out.

"But honey, this still doesn't answer your question does it?" Mum exclaimed.

"Wait what do you mean?" I asked.

"You wanted to know why your dad left you 11 years ago right?" Mum said.

''Yes, right?" I said confused.

"Your dad left you to take Kate to live with him in America where she lives now. I'm so sorry that I didn't tell you Mia, it's just that when me and your father had the argument I never thought I could tell anybody ever! Even 11 years after the incident happened; however it's made me realise how lucky I am to still have you. But do you know how much I miss Kate! She was just whisked away from my arms the day your father and I agreed on it, and I have never heard from them or seen both of them in the day she was gone!" Mum cried, and tears began to spring to her eyes.

I ran over to mum and hugged her. We both cried into each others arms until we realised that we can't just cry about it. I wanted my mum to reunite with her other daughter and I can reunite with my long lost sister.

It soon became the evening and mum was sitting on the sofa watching Sunday night TV. Everything was all a blur today; the rest of the afternoon was spent by thinking of what to do now.

"Mia hun, how about we order pizza? It is the beginning of the summer holidays after all?" Mum asked with a big grin.

"Yes of course. That would be nice mum." I replied and went to fetch the phone from the kitchen.

In the end we ordered a large peperoni pizza with some garlic bread and sauce. When the dominoes man arrived, we curled up on the sofa together and tucked in whilst watching Surprise Surprise on ITV. There was a woman who had been apart from here mum for 45 years and she found out she had a sister. She got to meet them for the first time on live television; this was a massive coincidence to what was going on in my life right now!

When the programme ended, me and mum just looked at each other in silence.

"This could be a sign for both of us" Mum whispered.

I nodded and decided to head up for bed.

"Good night mum" I exclaimed.

"Goodnight sweetie" Mum replied, and we both went up to our bedrooms.

I jolted up from my bed. It was the middle of the night.

As I looked up from my duvet at my alarm clock, it read 1:06. I sighed and tried to get back to sleep but it was a pointless argument as it felt literally impossible. My mind couldn't stop thinking about Kate and if I would ever be able to fly out to her and meet her. I wandered what she was like and what she like doing.

The only way I could ever find her out was Facebook; well that was the only thing I could think of anyway.

I grabbed my phone off of my bedside table and turned it on. I had a lot of messages from Jake as I remember him asking to talk later, however at this moment in time I decided to ignore them and reply in the morning.

As I clicked onto Facebook my hands started to tremble and I started to get really hot. I went onto the search section and started to type.....Kate Jones

But what if there are lots of Kate Jones in the world? I imagine their are a lot.

A few appeared under the search button and I clicked on the first one that came up. I decided the best way to find out if it was the Kate I was looking for was to look at their photos.

This person was about my mums age so this definitely wasn't my sister.

I went back to the search engine and looked at the second Kate Jones. This girl looked around the same age as me, and underneath her profile picture was her birthday. Born on 12th of April 2000.

This is her! I had found Kate; my twin!

I looked through more of her photos. She had blonde long hair with sparkling white teeth and blue eyes; just like mine. I noticed another picture. She was standing hugging a man which both of them were smiling.

My dad.

I had never imagined seeing my dad again but now I know what he looks like!

I have to make a plan to go and visit them.

Hello everyone! I hope you have enjoyed this chapter! I'm really loving writing it at the moment.

Feel free to comment anything that you want to happen next between her and Kate.

Also I'm thinking that every time I end a chapter I might ask a question like: "What cool things are you doing this summer?" Or something like that so leave a comment if you think that's a good idea!
