CHAPTER FIVE IN DANDELIONS' PERSPECTIVE
-----
DANDELIONS POV
-----
TW: blood, kit death

---------------------------------------------------------

I'm awoken by Valleykit's shrieks, and I stretch, my maw opening wide in a yawn. I turn my head to settle Valleykit, I lick at her head and scruff, my eyes closed, before I force them open. my blinking fluttery as I gaze at my kits.

Valleykit,
Thornkit,
Skybluekit,
Wetk..

where's Wetkit?!

I jump to my paws, my ears flat. I spin around to Moleyowl, only Troutkit lay by her belly.

" oh, Moleyowl! wake up! "

I shriek, rushing to Moleyowl's side, nudging her awake. Moleyowl grunts, yet lifts her head quickly at my distressed tone.

" what? what's the matter, Dandelionsroar? "

Moleyowl mumbles, turning her head to look at me, then her kit.

" where's Brightkit?! "

Moleyowl mews, shuffling into a crouch lay, Troutkit grumbling at the movement.

" I don't know! "

I whine, standing. my paws shaking.

" I'll check the clearing, you check the dens "

Moleyowl grunts, staggering to her paws and rushing to the clearing. I turn my head, looking through the nursery, they weren't in any of the other nests.

I pick up Troutkit by the scruff, placing him in the nest with my kits, and Troutkit snuggled up to them.

I leave the nursery, going to the Elders den, peeking in.

They weren't in there.

----

After searching all of the dens, I grow panicked. my back arched with fear, I approach Littleclaw, the deputy.

" Dandelionsroar? what's the matter? "

Littleclaw mews with a concerned tint, as he notes my anxious appearance.

" Brightkit and Wetkit are missing! "

I whine, and Littleclaw instantly raises his catbrows.

" stay in camp, I'll send out two searching patrols for them. "

Littleclaw instructs.

" can I come? please! "

I blink hopefully, Littleclaw hesitates, then slowly nods.

" sure, get Tarantulapaws, Oakpelt and an apprentice to come with you "

Littleclaw smiles.

I purr thankfully, and turn to search for the warriors.

----

I had gathered Tarantulapaws and Oakpelt, and brought Brackenpaw.

We made our way to the camp exit, leaving, and my anxiety increases. I switch to a trot, then a run, speeding across the landscape, my patrol close behind.

We searched through the nearby forest, and the marshlands.

Unfortunately though, we had found nothing.

I stagger to a stop, my ears flattening and my tail dipping between my legs. I trip into a crouch lay, as I choke a sob. I sniffle, pining for Wetkit.

Brackenpaw approaches me from behind, giving the top of my head a few comforting licks.

" come on, Dandelions, we should head back. maybe the other patrol has found them! "

Brackenpaw smiles, cheerfully, and I feel the cheeriness radiate off her. I couldn't help but smile.

I sniffle one last time, raising to my paws.

" you're right, we should "

----

We walk across a path that led to the camp entrance, the path formed from so many pawsteps upon it.

I look to my side at the river, a mesmerizing sight as the fading sun bounces off it.

" Brackenpaw, cover your eyes! "

Tarantulapaws yowls, and I jolt, looking ahead.

Tarantulapaws had leapt onto the back of a fox, snarling and digging his claws into it. It yelped, trying to throw him off. Oakpelt ran ahead once it had moved from where it originally was.

" there's a kit here! "

Oakpelt calls, and I perk, dashing forwards to Oakpelt's side.

there's a mound of blood and bone and brownish grey fur further infront, and I look down to what Oakpelt was gesturing at.

my heart drops.

Wetkit.

Wetkit is here.

and he's missing a leg.
