I found myself writing multiple poems about Leo as we spent the month of December together. I felt like I was in love already, despite it being such a short amount of time. He even spent Christmas with me and my family. His mom traveled to Germany to spend the holiday with some of their relatives that lived there, so she didn't feel left out. I couldn't smile wider if I tried when I showed up at the front door of my parents' house, my arm looped with Leo's.

"Hi, Mom," I beamed, her already seeing how happy I was.

"Hi, and you must be Leo," she reacted, giving him a welcoming hug. "Evie's told us about all the time you've been spending together. We're glad you could join us for Christmas."

"Yeah, I'm happy to be here too," he grinned, squeezing my hand as we ventured inside. I could already see the traditional parade on the television. My dad was just resting as it played, me able to hear Ren in the kitchen. She had gotten there early to help out, and I met up with her.

"You would think it was cold outside with how you look," she remarked.

"What do you mean?" I looked over at her confused as she peeled potatoes.

"Because your cheeks are all rosy," she teased, probably causing my blush to worsen.

"I can't help it. Leo just makes me so happy. I can't believe he's here right now in our living room with our parents."

"Are you sure that's a good thing? Mom can be kind of smothering, and Dad never knows what to say. It can make for some very awkward meetings for a date, trust me."

"Do you think I should go back in there," I wondered, starting to worry a little.

"It probably wouldn't hurt."

"Do you want me to help you when I'm done?"

"No, don't worry about it. Mom and I are doing fine. You just enjoy your time with Leo," she urged.

"Okay, thank you so much. I really appreciate this," I responded, giving her a side hug.

"Well, it's your first possible, major boyfriend. I want you to be able to spend as much time as possible with him today."

I just merely smiled before cautiously stepping back into the main room, the wooden floors creaking beneath me.

"Yeah, growing up in California wasn't so great for me at first. My mom and I were very poor and we didn't live in the best neighborhood. I never was tempted to do drugs or anything like that though. I'm really glad I can help people out now, and that my mom never has to live that way again," Leo explained, both of my parents intently listening.

"Yeah, I'm sorry you had to go through that. I'm glad you're living your dream now though," my mom reacted.

"Thanks. I can't believe how talented Evie is at writing poetry. I bet she'll be living her dream soon too."

"I hope so. I've always wanted the best for her, and I know she's really been struggling about her future," my mom frowned. I was surprised they hadn't heard me enter the room, since they were talking like I wasn't standing nearby.

"Hey," I shyly waved to Leo, him proudly wrapping his arm around me. "Are you watching the parade any?"

"No, but we can if you want to," he sweetly commented, his ocean eyes briefly connecting with mine.

"Yeah, I'd like that. I wonder if they've had Snoopy on there yet."

"I think he was just on there before the last commercial break," my dad brought up before standing. "I think I'm going to go get our book with 'Twas the Night Before Christmas in it. I thought we could read it later."
