"Lizzy!"
Elizabeth Erendall heard her name being called and rushed to her friend.
"Did you find anything?" she asked, her grey eyes filled with worry. She and her friend May were looking for Elizabeth's long-lost brother. He had disappeared many years ago on a hunt for the rare Golden Sphinx. The sphinx was said to tell only the truth and one of its hairs was worth £100,000 because it was solid gold. Gold can't be mined in the Wild Land so the only way to obtain it is to kill a gold creature. This is why Golden Sphinx are so rare.
Elizabeth peered down at the tracks that May had found. They belonged to a hippogriff. Hippogriff didn't live this far up north so the tracks must have belonged to a hippogriff rider. It just so happened that Elizabeth's brother rode a hippogriff...
