That night, while Jennie was at home, she received a call from Lisa. After greeting each other enthusiastically, Lisa shared with Jennie the details of her meeting with Jennie's father in the principal's office.
"Jennie, I need to tell you what happened today," Lisa began, her tone serious but filled with excitement. "I went to see the principal to discuss the incident in the cafeteria, and..."
Jennie interrupted, eager to know what had happened. "And what did my father say about it?"
Lisa sighed before responding. "Well, at first, it seemed like he wasn't going to do anything about it. But then... well, then he offered to give me a new cardigan as compensation for what happened."
Jennie fell silent for a moment, processing the information. "A new cardigan? And is that all he said?"
Lisa nodded, although she knew Jennie couldn't see her over the phone. "Yes, that was all. It seems like he doesn't want this incident to cause a fuss."
Jennie frowned, feeling frustrated by her father's response. "So basically, he's trying to sweep it under the rug?"
"Something like that," confirmed Lisa, her voice full of indignation. "But let's leave this topic for now, I have more important things to do."
Jennie nodded, feeling a mix of discomfort and pain. "I went to visit him, he's still the same."
Lisa listened in silence, sensing the seriousness in Jennie's voice. "I'm so sorry, Jennie," she responded empathetically. "It must be hard to see him in that state."
Jennie sighed, releasing some of the weight on her heart. "Yes, it is. But I know I have to keep hope alive and keep supporting him."
Lisa nodded, admiring her friend's strength. "I'm here for you, Jennie. I always will be. Together, we'll get through this."
Jennie smiled weakly, grateful for Lisa's comforting words. "Thank you, Lisa. It means a lot to me."
"Thank you for visiting him, Jennie. See you tomorrow," said Lisa sincerely, hanging up the call with a heavy sigh. She decided to lie down in her bed and stare at the ceiling.
"I just hope everything turns out okay," she murmured to herself. She stayed quiet for a moment, but a notification from her phone made her open her eyes again.
Lisa furrowed her brow at Jennie's notification. With a sigh, she opened the message and read the gossip account's post about what had happened in the cafeteria. A wave of emotions flooded her: annoyance, embarrassment, and frustration.
"I can't believe they're talking about this on social media," she muttered to herself, feeling anxiety creeping in.
She decided not to respond to Jennie's message for the moment. Instead, she got out of bed and started pacing in her room, feeling the need to clear her mind.
After a few minutes of reflection, she made a decision. She took out her phone and opened the messaging app. She quickly wrote a message to Taehyung to find out where he was and if he was still at school. When Taehyung responded affirmatively, a sense of relief washed over her.
The hustle and bustle of the second day of classes filled the school hallways. Jennie and Lisa were at their lockers, exchanging laughs and sharing their thoughts on recent events. Jennie checked her compact mirror while Lisa organized her books, trying to keep her mind occupied.
"I can't believe we're still dealing with all of this," said Jennie, sighing. "Sometimes I feel like there's no moment of peace."
Lisa nodded, although her thoughts were elsewhere. "Yeah, I know. But we have to keep moving forward, right?"
