Felix
"Well done son! You'll loose the weight in no time" coach Grimsby says whilst patting my back, my sweat soaked t-shirt making a wet sound when his big hand comes into contact with my back.
"Thanks coach, you really think so?" I say in short gasps, my breath ragged.
"Yeah, without a doubt. What your heart rate was like...190. You and I know more than well that your heart rate is a good indicator to your weight loss, but keep in mind that don't go over 190 or you'll do more harm than good. " his voice full of confidence but worry near the end.
Coach Grimsby and I are both close as we realte a lot to each other: he has his own husband at home and his high school life was pretty much a mirror of mine, hated the way his body looked and he was also teased for being both openly gay and overweight, both things that were just gasoline to a never ending inferno. Thinking about it now, coach Grimsby was one of the first teachers who I liked, he was also the first one to know I was gay before I even told my mom.
"Ah, go hit the showers or whatever, i'll see you...whenever." he waved off, a slight giggle in his voice.
"m-kay bye coach" I say as I step off the treadmill and walk over to the locker room.
I step into the locker room and notice that it has become more warm and humid, probably due to people having showers. Ugh, how could they have showers here, it's basically like a prison: your stark naked in front of other males with all their...bits going every where, and not to mention the epidemic of athletes foot that you'll probably contract from the dirty floors. The prospect causes me to shudder.
I walk over to where my bag is stashed and take off the lock opening the door. I reach in and grab my bag by the handles, the narrow space of the cavity making it difficult. I end up pulling my nag from the locker and almost end up butt first on the hard, tiled floor. I slam the locker door in anger and wince at the sound, hoping nobody heard it. I quickly make my way to the row of cubicles and enter one, my cumbersome bag making it annoying. I place my bag on the floor and engage the lock, opening the zip of my bag I begin to rummage through the clothes in effort to find my knife and it's holster. After almost going into a panic attack thinking in left it in the locker which I forgot it's number, I find the gleaming black object at the bottom of my bag, the knife unsheathed and a few inches away from the actual holster. I pick them up and place the knife into the holster, it's shiny titanium blade hidden and protected by it, I hitch the right side of my sweatpants down a little to expose my thigh and strap the holster onto my thigh, making sure the handle of the blade comes a few inches above the waistband of my underwear. I look at the sight for a minute and stay there as the memory comes flooding in.
*********FLASHBACK**************
"Hey, mom. I'm going now, I'll be back within a few minutes" I call to my mom.
"Okay sw-" were the only words she manages to say before a fit of painful coughs attack her.
"mom, are you sure that you don't want me to call Dr Grey. He said he's more than happy to treat you" I ask knowing the answer that I'll receive but I ask anyway, again.
"Yes, i'm more than sure. And plus, the prescription that he have us is more than enough considering that it gives me the med free. " her reply raspy and week.
"Fine, okay. Just don't open the door, I have my keys." I say before stepping out into the cold, night air and locking the door.
I make my way over to the pharmacy situated a block away. I decide to run, thinking that it will save time as the pulmonary ravaging my mother's lungs could cause her to need my help at any moment that I'm. At the house, this idea causes me to run faster although a cramp begins to settle into my thigh, I ignore it.
