Heading out the door of Felix's house I pull out my phone and call my mother, hoping that she has her phone on. The phone rings for a few seconds untill crackling and then the sound of my mothers voice comes through the headset.
"Hi, honey. What's wrong? Did it all go good with Felix?" She asks, the persistant sound of a heart monitor in the background.
"Yeah, it went more than well. I'm just letting you know that I've invited Felix over for dinner, I'm picking him up at about six. Is that okay?" I ask while a Cheshire cat grin spreads across my face. I almost begin jumping up and down in exitement when thinking about our conversation.
My mother squeals at the good news causing me to wince and pull the phone from my ear. "Honey, oh my. I'm so happy for you, and yes its more than okay. I'll be home before then to make dinner, and since your father will be home maybe you can tell him then?"
My stomach knots thinking about how my father might react. "Y-yeah sure. Thanks mom." I say, the grin now replaced by a frown.
"Honey, listen I've got to go. We can talk later when I'm at home" she says before putting the phone down.
I sigh and stuff my phone back into my pocket and walk over to my car. Fishing out my keys I unlock the car and get in, the cold interior of the car sending shivers rocketing through my spine. I start the car and drive off home, the humm of the engine filling the inside.
After a few minutes I become bored and decide to turn on the radio despite the big possibility of it not working. I turn the knob only for static to come through the speakers, I continue to turn the dial untill I hear the faint tune of music cone through the speakers. I fiddle with the knob untill a song replaces the static, I recognise it as being Muse- Blackout. I shurug and continue to listen: its better that being in silence.
Approaching my driveway I begin to think how I would tell my dad, because I know for sure that I won't be able to tell him today: the drunk people of Friday night will still be having a hang over and my dad will need to do a few things with them so he won't even finish till three pm and considering that he's the head of Oncology the work load is going to be phenomenomenal, and adding that he's gonna have consults of his own, he's gonna be lucky to even get out by eight.
I shake my head and park in the driveway, the small gravel stones crunching under the weight of my car. I get out of the car and make my way towards the front door, I unlock the door and twist the handle. Stepping inside, I'm greeted by nothing but emptyness; the house quiet with not a single soul in sight exept mine, nobody else is breathing exept me, and this would then mean that I would be alone untill my mother came back which wouldn't be untill later.
I shrug my shoulders and sigh and begin to close the door, but as I do I feel a force from the other side pressing against me. Realising that someone is trying to enter the house, I begin to push back with all the power I could muster up, but my efforts prove to be friutless: the person, a man, pushes his way into my house and steps inside, slamming the door loudly behind him shattering the silence. And beofre me stands a man ,probably no older than 23, breathing heavily as if he's just run a marathon. The inruder just stares at me for a few seconds untill he smiles and speaks.
"Hey there pretty boy. You wanna play a game" the man asks, his voice deep and raspy.
With my heart now racing, threatening to jump out of my chest I begin to think what to do. Looking to my side I see a large glass vase situated on the small table near the front door, and after some quick thinking I pick it up and lunge it at the man's head, the vase shattering into a million pieces when it connects with his skull.
