Danny POV

Danny slowly relaxed and watched as his people celebrated and spoke with the newly arrived pirate crew. It had taken him a bit, but he was finally fully relaxed with them being around his people. The orange haired girl, Nami, had asked one of the older ghosts, Jenga, about the island and where they were located on a map. From there, they slowly devolved into talk about the different places Nami and her crew have seen.

With Danny's enhanced hearing, he heard of the crew's adventures and soon became fascinated enough that he forgot the conversation him and Roger were having.

"Danny.....Dannnyyyy....DANNY!"

Finally snapped out of his intense focus on the pirates' adventures, Danny sheepishly refocused on Roger and rubbed his neck in slight guilt.

"Sorry Roger. I kinda blanked out there. What were you saying?"

With fond exasperation Roger told Danny that he was fine and reminded him that since they now had company they should ask about updates on current affairs.

"But Roger, nobody even knows how to find this island, what's the point in getting updated when it will only become old news before the day is over? I understand wanting to hear how things are going but getting overly involved will only make everyone feel helpless or angry. I can tell through some of the stories going around that the world government has only become worse since your execution. The justice they once maintained has been replaced with greed." Danny saw Roger's mouth open, most likely to give a counter argument, but before he could even say a word Danny plowed forward with his mini speech unaware of others listening in on his words.

"I'm not trying to disregard the information they have nor am I saying that you can't ask about outside affairs, but from what I've heard and even seen through these pirates actions is that the marines often attack pirates on sight even when they have no kill count. And yes I noticed they have no kills due to no aura of death surrounding them. Anyways, I can also infer that the world government only cares about pirates when they go against a marine or official. They don't seem to care about the people. The reason this is relevant is that, because we are ghosts, even if we wanted to help we would be powerless. Hearing about the government and their affairs will no doubt infuriate and hurt us as we will know what is happening but won't even have the option of lending aid".

By the end of his speech a resigned look overcame Roger's features as he understood his friend was only trying to protect them from the agony of not even having the choice to aid those in need or go against the government like they could have if they were still living.

He then quietly spoke to Danny. "I understand Danny and I apologize, I did not think of the consequences such knowledge would have on our cores and minds. Especially since we can barely make ourselves tangible enough to actually do something".

"I understand and I'm sorry. If I could, I would change things and force the world government to become what it is exposed to be, a way of guidance and protection to the people. Not something to exploit and hurt others for personal gain. I understand that there are those in the government who are good, but they are unfortunately not the majority".

Luffy's POV

Luffy had been enjoying an amazing feast thanks to the awesome looking people of the island. He had been reaching for another piece of meat when he had looked in the direction of the ghost that led Zoro here and the huge ghost talking to him. What really caught his attention was when the bigger ghost suddenly yelled out the smaller ones name. "DANNY!"

So that's the small ghosts name... Luffy thought while chewing on his meat, the ghosts around him looking impressed by how much he's eaten and wondering how much more he'll eat.

Luffy, not noticing their gazes or caring about their thoughts, began to listen in on Danny's conversation with the giant, somewhat familiar looking, ghost. As he listened to Danny's speech, his chewing slowed to a stop and a flare of admiration rose up along with the gut feeling that this ghost would be a great nakama to have.

Making up his mind, Luffy slowly got up while stuffing and swallowing the last of the meat he was eating and walked towards Danny and his friend. Once close enough he spoke, catching the two ghost's attention. "Ne, join my crew".

A look of absolute shock covered Danny's face as his big friend boomed in laughter. Luffy's own laughter joining when he heard his crew either yell, scream, or shout at Luffy calling him insane or, in Nami's case, an idiot.

"Shishishi you seem like a great guy and you're cool so join my crew".

Behind him, Luffy could hear his crew face-plant at his declaration. Danny looked shocked and seemed to be warring between amusement, confusion, and irritation at his words.

"Sorry Luffy, but I have a duty here and I barely know you".

"That's fine, we can get to know each other once you join us".

"I can't swim".

"Neither can I".

"I'm boring".

"You're a ghost, ghosts are cool".

On and on they went before the big ghost finally intervened. "Danny, you should go".

The look of absolute shock on his face caused Luffy to grin while the big ghost continued his speech. "None of us doubt that you love this island but all of us can tell you are made for more. Heck, we all know that you can kick butt and are able to do damage. Don't give me that look, the islands only so big and we could hear you practicing. Anyways, the point is, I know you can do amazing things and I also know how badly you wish to help. I could hear it in the speech you gave me. I want you to be able to explore the seas and I want you to use that hero complex you told me about to help. Besides, all of us could see you've been eyeing the ocean a lot recently".

Danny looked like he wanted to argue but couldn't find the words causing Luffy to grin in excitement and anticipation before he asked his friend a question. "What about you guys, I can't just abandon you, it wouldn't be right".

A booming laugh and wide smile was his answer accompanied by a gentle hand on Danny's shoulder. "We will be just fine and now we'll have a reason to buy those newspapers, I'm sure we can convince that navigator to inform others of our island".

After another complicated look at his friend, Danny turned towards Luffy and asked how long they would be staying.

With a wide grin, Luffy said "3 days".

Danny nodded before saying he would need to think about things and disappeared, right in front of his eyes, causing Luffy to go on a tangent about how awesome and cool his new Nakama is causing the large ghost to laugh.

Danny's POV

with a backwards glance at the Captain and Roger, Danny floated into the forest to gather his thoughts on the offer given to him and Roger's words. His thoughts loud and his core thrumming in anticipation at the idea of an adventure, Danny's last thought before leaving the town for the forest was how strange the captain was to invite a ghost to his ship.
