the way of the eclipse

how did I get here

I grew up in a timid village, where everyone knew everyone. My father was the chief so he was expected to produce a child that would need to take charge of the village one day. First he had my sister Luna, then 2 years later they had me which they named tsuki. I came out different from the rest of my family I had vitiligo. The village would say I was a monster but.. I always have Luna who would console me. The two of us were different in many ways she had looks and everything but I had something she didn't speed and agility. I was fast and good at fighting she was good at karate but when it came to wheel fights I always won.

The village we lived in had a small flower field which oftentimes at night we would go and play in. Luna would make flower crowns and put them on my head we would play tag sometimes other kids would join us though they never really talked to me. I guess that's what made me such a bad communicator in the first place. One night something was different, it was quiet and a lot of the creatures that would play in creatures that would play in that creatures that would play in that creatures that would stay In that flower field we're gone no fireflies or lightning bugs not even butterflies.

I remember this day like it was yesterday something I won't forget. I was around 7 at the time Luna was 9 I was playing around when I heard my sister's voice "hey Firefly, let's head back"Firefly was the nickname she would call me as I had two symbols on my face on the left side it was a dark moon with a teardrop underneath on the right side it was a sun, they would grow when the moonlight hit them or the sunlight. "Okay Lulu" I said skipping to join my sister. I held her hand as we walked up the hill to our house.

"Do you smell that?" Luna said looking around confused but worried "no what's up?" I said,Her grip on my hand tightened "nothing must be my imagination.." she said before we continued walking, her short black and purple hair suede in the wind. When we got to our house we instantly noticed something was wrong the door was wide open and there was an awful stench coming from there. I froze but Luna rushed into the house. I quickly followed after her. Inside the house my parents slaughtered it with their tongues and eyes ripped out their origins removed and some of the body parts all over the place. I covered my mouth so I didn't throw up. Luna looked mortified she dropped to her knees shaking my mom. Begging her to wake up even though we both know it was too late way too late.

We ran to get help from the town's folks although they never believed us when we said we were not in the house they blamed us and chased us out of town. For a year or two after that me and Luna lived in the woods surviving off of what we could find after all we were raised to become chief of the village so we knew how to survive. Sure we didn't have the right nutrients we needed but we had each other right?..

One day when we were exploring the forest a little more we ran into a young lady.. she is beautiful. She asked us about why we were there and where our parents were. We had to tell her what happened. Surprisingly she believed us. And she took us to her house a mansion on the top of the mountain. Turns out she was a demon Slayer and explained to us that a demon had murdered our parents. After that we trained to become slayers too. to maybe one day avenged our parents.

We learned the lady's name was Yū and she used lightning breathing, she tried to teach us lightning breathing but we couldn't seem to learn it, one day I was training with Luna when suddenly I used a breathing style it wasn't lightning breathing though it had stars in it and it was yellow and dark blue. We were all surprised. But Yū said she was so proud of me I had made my own breathing style without even knowing. She asked me what I was going to name it and I thought about it for a long time before I finally said.. "eclipse breathing"

I could tell something was off with Luna. I tried to teach her eclipse breathing to the best I could but she just couldn't do it but she ended up making her own breathing style. Shadow breathing. A few months later we were heading to final selection. It was exciting for both of us. After all we spent 3 years training. I was 13 now and Luna was 15. We passed final selection with flying colors and went back home to celebrate and wait for our swords and uniforms to come in.
