"I am L."

That is what he had told (Y/n). The most greatest and smartest detective was speaking to her, right at this moment. She could not believe it. Her voice quivered in excitement and surprise as she said:

"No...There's absolutely NO WAY-" "Keep calm, Ms. (L/n). I understand your excitement, but that must not be acceptable behavior." L stated calmly. It appears as if he does not want any fangirls or fanboys surrounding him. Technically, he does not sound like the type to have fans all around his business.

"(L/n), calm down please. There is no need to act so relentless right now." She lets out a squeal, like a teenage girl finally meeting her favorite idol. It was immature, but the girl sure was having it.

"I know I'm going to sound ridiculous...but can please I get your autograph?" However, there was a faint chuckle or laugh, coming from the other side of the line. Could L be amused by her reaction? Was she perhaps...too cute and adorable for him? Whatever reason it was, he was most certainly amused. However, he moved on from that topic pretty quickly.

"Like I mentioned earlier, there will be a meeting for the murder(s). It will begin at around early August for further investigation and details. And you, will be the one gathering this information after the questioning. So... what do you say, Ms. (L/n)? It's your choice-"

"HELL YEAH! You know I'm gonna do that. But I have one more question for you, L. Why DID you pick me? Was there any specific reason why?" She interrupted and asked him. "I'm just dying to know because the GREATEST DETECTIVE IN THE WORLD IS TALKING TO ME AAAAAAA"

"...I saw your books, Ms. (L/n). Your novels, your stories. They all seem so real, yet so fake. A great author comes great writing. And great writing comes great deductions. And great deductions comes great thinking. It's an endless loop, yet you manage to stabilize it. It just amazes me how a woman can do this."

For a faint moment, (Y/n) could feel herself blushing. It was from the compliment, how he was so straightforward. Not because she liked L or anything.

"Well thanks, I guess. So what's a good meetup time if I may ask?" She asked.
"Between 9 and 10:00 AM tomorrow is a perfect time. Is that fine with you?"
"Yeah that's perfect. So in the meantime, do I just gather information about the victim today?"
"Correct. Please do that. It is very useful to me and the NPA. Now, I will see you tomorrow morning, Ms. (L/n)."

And with that, L hung up without having to say anything else. She didn't even say goodbye back which was rude. But she wanted to make her idol happy and proud. So with no problems, she grabbed her laptop from the desk and pulled up a blank document. (Y/n) pulled out her phone to see the amber alert again. Believe Bridesmaid. She copied the information down on the computer, bit by bit.

That wasn't enough. She knew she needed more, but how was she get that kind of info? Amber alerts weren't going to provide her anything else expect the dates and time the man was last seen. If anything, (Y/n) would need to travel different websites for Believe Bridesmaid, or maybe contact the NPA for further details on the victim. Even if it were that risky. But there were limited options on what she could do. "Since he was just reported dead a few hours ago, the police wouldn't research right away, right?" She thought to herself.

(Y/n) was right though. It needed time for the police to discover Believe Bridesmaid. If anything, a couple hours or a day at most. Anyway, she wasn't gonna push it far. She closes her laptop and stretches prior to the exhausted day she had.

(Y/n) walks to her bedroom and rests on the bed. She stares into the ceiling with a blank expression, daydreaming about something as if she were in a trance. Meeting L in person would be a dream come true to her. She just talked to L, so why not see the detective in person?

Just now, Freckles the kitty trotted and jumped on the bed next to her, cuddling with her like a child in a mom's arms. (Y/n) glances at this lighthearted moment, exchanging the most warmest smile you could ever imagine. She figured this was an apology from running way from her while L called.

Without hesitation, she opened her arms, welcoming an embrace between (Y/n) and her cat. She strokes his soft fur lovingly, her face buried into his fur, cozy like a soft blanket. The cute moment could never be interrupted by any phone call AGAIN.

____________

Morning finally arrives, as (Y/n) and Freckles were still cuddling together like a cute couple. The sunlight awakened her, as she stretches and walks out of bed. After her usual morning routine, she checked to see what the time was on her clock. "Oh shit." (Y/n) responded immediately. "It's 9:30! I overslept..."

She dashes to her closet and changes her outfit into jeans and a top, trying to look her best at the meeting with L. Next stop is the bathroom, where she brushes her teeth and applies makeup on her smooth skin. Surprisingly, she skips breakfast in which she NEVER does. Who even skips breakfast?

(Y/n) takes her computer and walks out of the house in a hurry. "Bye, Freckles. Now-OH CRAP I FORGOT TO GIVE YOU FOOD!" She slides back into apartment, pouring cat food for him, even making a mess everywhere because she's that stressed. This meeting was like to prove how worthy she is of the greatest detective in the world, and she cannot fail that.

As soon as she's done pouring cat food. In what felt like an eternity, she rushes out of the house saying "Bye bye, Freckles. I love you! Now go eat your food." She closes the door and dashes downstairs to get her car. She speeds up and drives away. (Y/n)'s guess is that L would probably be in the police station already, waiting for the girl silently and patiently.

As she arrived at the police station, she could spot a man waiting at the entrance. It was the same man. Baggy eyes and black messy hair. He had his usual white sweater and jeans, but as she exited the car and walked towards him, he had dark red eyes. That was the ONLY DIFFERENT feature between him and the man at the book signing event. The man smiled, although it was a pretty unsettling and perverted smile to begin with. He held out his hand, awaiting for her to shake it.

"Hello, (L/n)."
