"Sometimes, the only way to truly be happy is to just let go of whatever is holding you back and see what comes next. Be brave and have a little faith..."

"Another work meeting?" Michael Kane said sitting at his desk in the corner of the dark parlor. A single dim light made his presence known as he scans over some papers on the desk.

"Jesus! You scared me honey. Um, yeah meeting went late." She gave a small smile, kissed him on the cheek, and walked up stairs.

He glances at the clock on the wall. The clock that ticks past two, in the morning.

Late meeting...

The love of his life went upstairs to wash away the lies and betrayal from her body. Did Michael know? He did. With his training and knowledge it be stupid for him not to notice. But, he only blamed himself.

At the beginning, she was a court house clerk and he was a low rank FBI agent. They found time to go to dinner or plan special days. He still remembered the first time he kissed her lust filled lips.  Lips he wanted to kissed every day for the rest of his life.   As he moved up In ranks she grew fond of his new paychecks. But, that also meant he had to spend most of his time working. Of course there have been issues with him working to much that he stepped down and took a different occupation, a history teacher. They've been married for ten years now.  She very much missed the bigger checks. So, he took side jobs. She wanted more date night. So, he gave her all of his time.  It wasn't enough. He had started to notice their kiss had become stale. Her touch felt more like  an obligation instead of a desire. She had lost interest in him.

He sat there at his desk. His cup of whiskey glistened from the table lamp. His mind wondered to the night he had Scarlett Rose in his hands to all their other  encounters that left an impression on him. It allowed him to remember what it felt like to crave sexual attention. But, those feelings just stayed bottled up with in and created anger and frustration. To the point he found joy in the jobs Liam gave him. Joy in what he once felt guilt for. He drank the remaining whiskey.

"Open your books to page 300. Tyler, read the first paragraph. Then, we'll go down the row reading." Michael looked out to the kids sitting before him. It was a peaceful occupation. Maybe a little too stagnant. "Trish, your turn."   he took a seat at his desk. "Now, get in groups of four. I want you to work together to answer the questions on the board. Turn in one paper at the end of class with all your names on it." He proceeded to grade papers. He casually listened to his students work together. Some had good conversations others talked about gossip.

"Yeah I think she stole Brittney's boyfriend or something"

"I think she's sleeping with her boyfriend."

"Scarlett?"

"Yeah, did you see how she dressed."

"She was hot."

Whispers of gossip continue amongst the students.  Mr. Kane knew more than them. So, he hid a chuckle at how far off the rumors are going.
"Finish up." He said. " turn in your papers you have five more minutes."

The bell rang for students to leave. Few minutes later, students shuffled in ready for his next glass to begin.

By the end of the day, he stayed a few hours after schools , running  laps around the track once he dismissed his gym class.

Sweat ran down his neck soaking his white shirt. Four laps in his shirt was off. Girls that stayed behind stared at the sweat run down his abs. It really wasn't a secret he was one of the most fit teachers at the school.  He ran to clear his head. He ran to rid himself from frustration.
