"Phil?!" I called down the hall.
The cold hard-wood flooring chilled my feet as I stood, ready for an answer.
Silence.
"Phil?!" I called once more. Now I was worried. I jogged, my pace quickening as I began to run to his room.
The door was open. So was the front door. My mind, of course, traveled to the worse.
I located my phone and called Phil. Nothing.
I heard a sudden knock of the mahogany portal from the flat to the hall outside. I dragged myself from the black-leather couch, to the front of the flat, where as I opened the door, PJ layed on the other side of the tall threshold.
"PJ!?" I exclaimed and threw my arms around him once we are sat on my sofa.
"Yes, Dan?" He stared confused at me.
"I can't find Phil!" I broke into tears and sobs, dampening my friend's lap that my head was now rested in.
"What do you mean you can't find Phil?!"
"When I woke this morning, he wasn't there. I called for him twice, and he never responded. I went to check for him, he was nowhere to be found, his door was open, and the front door was wide open. That door is closed every night!" I mumbled, coming to a yell, pointing towards the door as I mention its state each night.
"Dan," PJ said after a few moments.
"And I called him. His phone was on, but he didn't answer."
"Well maybe, he is in public, and just didn't hear it cause where ever he is, is too loud," PJ suggested, trying to make me feel better, but the thing is; the truth is too hard to bare.
"I heard his phone ringing form the other room," I admitted.
"How do you know he just didn't forget it?"
"You just don't for get an IPhone, Peej!" IT was true. No one in there right mind can forget that they have an IPhone.
"Dan, you just don't kn-"
"PJ, he''s gone! It hasn't been 24 hours yet! We need to look, but I don't have any clues! I can't go all Benedict-Cumberbatch-Sherlock mode on ANYTHING!"
"THEN WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO, DAN? I CAN'T DO ANYTHING FOR YOU, AND SULKING INTO MY BALLS WON'T HELP!"
I was stunned. PJ just yelled at me for loving my best friend.
"I may love him more than I should, but even if I didn't, I would still be this worried. He is my best friend, flatmate, and love of my life. Now he's gone. What am I to do?"
"What don't you get, Dan? We can't look for him. He may be your flatmate, love of your life, and best friend, but he's my buddy, too. He's like a brother to me. I don't want to just sit around, but that's all we can do right now. We aren't even sure if he is really missing yet." Pj pushed me out of his lap, and took off into the hall.
"Well? Are you coming? We're going to look." PJ oushed out his hand for me, and I gladly took it. I sniffed and let one more tear slip before sucking it all up.
____________________________________________________After looking...
It had been just enough time for Phil to be legally missing and PJ called the police. They had a professional come. When they walked in the door, PJ and I exchanged confused expressions.
The tall, brown-haired girl entered Phil's room. She wore a white dress-shirt with black suit pants. Her hair was in a neat ponytail at the back of her head. I could tell she was going to go Sherlock Holmes all over this shit!
