Chapter 17: Conviction

Kai leaned against the wall of the alley he was now shirtless. During that entire fight, his body was fueled with adrenaline which made the pain of his injuries unnoticeable. But the fight is over and his adrenaline wore off so Kai was now feeling everything. Todoroki walked over to Kai.

(Todoroki): Are you alright?

(Kai): If we are going to continue to ignore the sword that's sticking out of my body, then yes.

Todoroki squats down looking at the katana.

(Todoroki): Speaking of which I think we should take that out and seal the wound. You'll be risking an infection.

Todoroki peaks around to look at Kai's back. thankfully the katana hadn't pierced through him fully. Kai nodded and tore off some of his shirt that surrounded the sword.

(Kai): Agreed. Can you cauterize the wound?

Todoroki was hesitant to use his flames. Not because of his original reasons but because he still lacks control over it, he doesn't want to risk hurting Kai. But at the same time using his fire is probably the best thing that he can do to help him avoid infection. Todoroki threw all doubts aside and was prepared to use his Quirk. Now onto their next concern, pulling the sword out of his torso.

(Todoroki): How do you want to do this?

Kai knew this was going to hurt but its best to get it over with quickly.

(Kai): Just pull it out in one go.

Todoroki nodded and grabbed onto the hilt. He could feel the dried up blood, it most likely came from Stain's previous victims.

(Todoroki): Alright, 3...

Todoroki tightens his grip.

(Todoroki): 2...

Kai grits his teeth preparing for the pain.

(Todoroki): 1!

...

Midoriya and Iida finished stripping the Hero Killer of his weapons. They heard Kai's pained shouts in the background. 

(Midoriya): That should be everything. 

They placed three katana's on the ground and two pouches of shuriken and kunai. Midoriya took a peek inside and he guessed there were over fifty of each.

(Midoriya): I'm surprised that he was able to carry all of this...

The background lit up with an orange glow as Todoroki activated his fire. Kai shouted in pain once more. Midoriya and Iida glanced back.

(Iida): Are you alright Fushiguro?

Kai's lower right abdomen had a burn scar. He shakily stood up using the wall as support.

(Kai): I'm fantastic. Nothing but gumdrops and ice cream over here.

He responded sarcastically. Kari and Noir walked over. They seemed sad to see Kai's injured condition. Kari licked his left hand. Kai crouched down and pet the both of them.

(Kai): I probably worried you two back there. Thanks for protecting everyone.

The Divine Dogs barked and wagged their tails. Kai smiled and dismissed the two. He stood to his full height and saw Stain's uncouncious body he noticed how the Hero Killer wasn't tied up.

(Kai): No luck with finding any rope?

Todoroki shook his head.

(Todoroki): We found some but its too short to even tie his hands together.
