Chapter 11

In a few minutes, they were back in Twinleaf Town. Nobody was outside which made things easier. Everyone walked towards Dana’s house. Dana was worried what her mother and brother would think of her and Lucario as a couple and her being a Lucario. She let Aubrey ring the doorbell. Dana’s brother opened the door. Dana made sure she wasn’t in plain sight for him to see her.

“Mommy, Aubrey and her friends are here!” Connor yelled inside. A few moments later, Dana’s mother was at the doorway.

“Hello there. Is Dana back yet?” Dana’s mom asked. Aubrey and Riley stepped out of the way for Dana’s mom to see her. Dana looked up. Her mother was staring at her in shock.

“Hi, Mom,” was all she could think of saying.

“Oh Dana, what happened to you? Is this the Aura Guardian thing that was supposed to happen?” Her mother ran over to her.

“No Mom, this wasn’t supposed to happen,” Dana explained, looking shamefully at the ground.

“Then what happened?” Dana’s mom wanted to know.

“Well, let me explain this. The power of aura can work in two ways, it could turn you into an Aura Guardian or it can turn you into a Lucario, which was demonstrated here. There’s much science to it but the way I see it now, Dana’s love for Lucario might as well turned her into a Lucario,” Riley explained again.

“Now you’re in love with someone else? Why didn’t you tell me?” her mother was full of questions.

“Mom, I didn’t tell you because I thought you knew that I liked Riley,” I did it again! She thought again. She knew then that she was going to hear laughter again, but surprisingly she didn’t.

“Oh, alright then, I guess I could get used to seeing you like this. Where is your new boyfriend, anyway?” Dana’s mother wondered.

Lucario stepped into plain sight. “I am her boyfriend,” he said. Dana blushed when Lucario said this.

“Oh, I see. I think you would make a good couple,” Dana’s mother remarked. “But wait, weren’t you supposed to become an Aura Guardian? What happened to that?” Dana’s mother asked.

“I think this is way better,” Dana said looking up at Lucario.

“Are you sure?” Riley asked from behind.

Dana looked at him. He held a blue hat similar to his. “You mean it?!” Dana’s eyes were sparkling. Riley nodded and placed the hat on her head. Now she was an official Aura Guardian! Dana was so happy that she hugged Riley.

“Thanks Riley. Maybe you’re not as bad as I thought you were,” Dana said as she let go of him. She walked back to her mother.

“Wait until Connor sees you! I’ll get him,” Dana’s mom ran off to get Connor. Dana panicked. Her mom was one problem; Connor was a whole new ballpark. Just thinking about what Connor was going to say made her confused, puzzled, and terrified. Connor was in the doorway now.

“Who is that?” Connor asked.

“Hey, Connor, it’s just me and my boyfriend,” Dana said.

“Dana’s a Lucario?! And she has a boyfriend?! That’s SO cool!” Connor exclaimed, “Aw man, this thing has to charge. I got to go.” Connor went back in the house to charge his Nintendo.

“Well he took that better than I expected,” Dana said relieved.

“Well, seeing that you’re safe and sound, I guess Riley and I should go now. We have to go back to Iron Island. We’ll see you again,” Sir Aaron said and the two left.

“Yeah, I have to get home too. It’s getting late. See you later,” Aubrey said and left too.

“Shouldn’t we be going in too? Come on,” Dana tugged on Lucario. They went inside.

That night, Dana woke up in the middle of the night.

“What’s wrong?” Lucario asked sleepily.

“I don’t know. I can’t sleep,” Dana was puzzled.

Lucario was wide awake and sitting up on the bed. “It could be a side effect from becoming a Lucario. The same thing goes for that running without control thing earlier,” Lucario suggested.

“You think so? Now how am I going to get to sleep? It’s like three in the morning,” Dana wondered.

“Like this,” Lucario said pushed Dana onto the bed again.

“Hey, what was that for?” Dana asked.

Lucario smiled, “Just wait,” he said. And then he was kissing her.

“I love you,” Lucario whispered.

“I love you too,” Dana whispered back. She could tell that this was going to be a good life from now on. She loved that the thing was messed up. It was a great summer.
