Jonathan, Nancy, Harrington, and I all started down the hallway into the living room. Following the lights one by one. Each of us holding our weapon ready, even the empty gun still clutched in Nancy's hand.
"Mom. Is that you?" Jonathan whispered as we now stared at the lights above the door.
I looked over at Harrington with a blank look and blink to which he returned. Both of us 99% lost.
We followed Jonathan out of the door to see the lamp post outside flickering just like the others.
"Where's it going?" Nancy asked. "I don't think that's the monster."
About 50 minutes and a brutal face wash in the sink later, I was sitting on the Byers's porch smoking a cigarette. Jonathan, Nancy, and Harrington as well. All looking equally distraught.
"Those will kill ya, you know," Nancy says. I look back at her as I push back my curls. "Could say the same about your ritual of blood and guns. But I think we had a higher chance an hour ago."
This causes a laugh or smile from each of them. "Can I have a puff?" Harrington says as he sits a couple of feet from me but on the same ledge. I contemplate it for a moment, "After a near-death experience caused by me giving you a ride, I'm sure giving you a cig won't do much worse." I say while handing it to him.
His hand touches mine through the transaction, "Shit your hands are freezing." "Cold as ice, Harrington. Something you're familiar with." I snip. "m." He mumbles, rolls his eyes, and takes a drag.
"Oh, what the hell, let me try. I did almost die." Nancy says landing in between us and stealing it from Steve. "Woah sweetheart don't suck so hard-" I say but it was already too late and she was coughing up a lung. I pat her back, taking away the cigarette. "You okay there princess?" I ask barely holding back a laugh. *.

"Harrington go get her some water," I say causing Steve to nod and start to get up. "It's fine, I'll get it," Jonathan says already halfway inside the door.
Nancy's cough started to subside when headlights appeared at the end of the driveway. I stood up protectively, grabbing my ax and slinging it onto my shoulder. Taking a last drag of the stick before stepping on it.
The lights passed me, finally able to make out the car. The car I know entirely too well. Sherrif's.
"Jonathan?!" I call him. "Yeah?!" He replies as he comes out with a glass of water.
The car door opens and slams. "Get in." He says smoothing his head with a slight smile. This shoots us all up, fleeing towards the cars.
"No, hello Hopscotch?" I say. "Of course you're here." He grumbles to himself. "Look I only have room for three." He says with an attitude.
Jonathan looks at me. I cut him off before he says something dumb, "Don't give me a look. Go." "Are you sure?" "Yes!" "Are you gonna come?" "If you want me there yeah, I'll follow right along," I walk to my van and get my keys out.
I get in my van, close the hunk of metal, and start her up. That's all I expected, but then the passenger side opened up to reveal Harrington.
"You forget something?" I ask, looking around. "no," Is all he says before getting in. I look at him for a minute, "You figured out the door." I say looking at the passenger I had previously mentioned was busted and Harrington could barely open.
He nodded with a look of and?
I nodded back. "Hm." And put the stick in reverse.
~In the hospital~
I was currently sitting between Nancy and Mary Jane. Staring Harrington, Snoring Wheeler, and Brooding Sheriff sat across from us.
Nancy looked like she had just given birth with the amount of shock and terror on her face. I wasn't sure why she had that look, I mean I had just fallen into this a couple hours ago.
Mary Jane was reading a comic, I think a ____ maybe. The curly-headed boy from the other day was drooling over her other shoulder.
Jonathan had just left the room to see Will. The Fucking boy I had a gut feeling about. Alive. If I had any common sense I'd know the big ass ballsack of a being we fought earlier had something to do with it. I don't want to be someone who says I'm right. Because I hate those people. So I'll say I agree.
Anyways, when Byers left, he held up the cassette I gave him with a teary smile and a box full of mementos.
It was heartwarming to see such a thing.
The door to the visiting room opened with Jonathan nodding to the one with black hair, Wheeler I assume. "HE'S UP! GUYS, HE'S UP! WILL'S UP!" He says shaking the kids awake. Mary Jane stood quickly, letting the head full of curls fall. All of them blasted out of the room, shoving.
The already busted door flings open at the push from my exhausted body. My clothes were disheveled, my hair tatted, remanence of monster drool in my mouth, and a slight buzz wore my skin. As I stood in the doorway at about 2 am, I held eye contact with a shared look of 'I don't even wanna know' from Uncle Wayne in the middle of drinking out of the milk jug. We both blink once after a couple of seconds of stillness before we resume.
~Christmas Eve~
When the holidays roll around Uncle Wayne was off from trucking, Eddie off from partying, and I from whatever horrors I'm choosing to suppress- We manage to make a little dinner, (mostly Chef Wayne), curl up watch a movie or two, drink eggnog, and exchange a couple of gifts. Nothing big, but this year we didn't get rainbow Christmas lights given my new hatred for them.
I unwrapped a bracelet with a guitar pick charm with an 'E' on it and a truck charm with a 'W'.
I immediately put it on and hugged them both. The night ended pretty early with a cozy feeling.
I sit up in a dark blue hue room, mine? I recognize some of my candles next to me along with my posters. Strange I had thought I fell asleep on the couch. Eddie possibly carried me... I was a heavy sleeper.
But something felt strange.
Like how you feel when someone's watching you...
My eyes snap to the closet door slowly moving to reveal more darkness—that same familiar sound of clicking.
Erm this is a transition chapter 👩❤️💋👩
