This is that request for @ButtonViCat that I'm quite behind on.
Don't consider me "back", per se. Consider me a cryptid that posts every now and again to fuel the embers for this fandom.

General warnings: Fluff, sass, a lot of sass, did I mention sass, maybe some language?

To your creators, you were eternally grateful.
They gave you life. A meaning. A purpose. They fueled the magic through your robotic veins. An ancient mage and a young child who looked unlike any monster you've ever encountered or had zapped into your database when you were given life.
But sometimes. Oh, sometimes, you swore your creators were testing you.
At first you thought that other signs of robots like you was a blessing! There were more people to help protect the Steamworks.
You had first met the Gardener. Your creators were scared when the hulking machine lugged itself from the ground. You didn't find that odd at all. If ya fits, ya sits.
You could tell they were hesitant to fight the robot. If you could feel emotions, you would be at ease. The pair you've been assisting throughout this ancient rusty maze seemed peaceful, choosing pacifism at every corner. You respected them greatly.
And then you met him.
Axis had been proving to be the bane of your existence. Apparently the first few times you've encountered this blunt menace to society you were absent. That was a blessing from whatever gods exist in disguise because hoo boy. Oh goodness. If you had a circulatory system you would need to practice breathing exercises around this fool. Alas, you did not, so you'd have to find another way to manage.
That way, you found, was to sass the ever loving life out of this idiot. It wouldn't alleviate the equivalent of a stress migraine you got whenever he was even remotely in your personal space bubble but it didn't matter.
"IF YOU WILL NOT HAND OVER THE HUMAN, WILL YOU AT LEAST EXPLAIN WHY YOU ARE HERE?" The robot in front of you asked. If your eyes could roll, they would have at least a hundred times by now.
"Because," you started. "My creators have a mission here. It is paramount that they accomplish it. You just happen to the worlds most annoying obstacle." At your words, you saw him falter.
You couldn't quite understand why but you seemed to have an effect on the other robot. Whenever you would quip back at him, he would step back, lose his words, or fumble with his hands.
If you could read his mind you would know he was short circuiting whenever you sassed him. He thought you were incredible. Your wits could outmatch his brashness. It caused him to say things he normally would at least attempt to filter.
"MARRY ME?" He turned to you with hearts in his eyes, not realizing the words he said until far after he had said them. Even then it was too late to take them back. He wouldn't want to anyway.
It was your turn to falter, taking a small step back with eyes wide. You were pretty adamantly against getting proposed to in such a manner.
"Uh, no. If you're so desperate for love, how about you marry a cactus?" You jokingly asked and for a moment, Axis considered it. The thought bubble that appeared over his head concerned you. "Never mind that. Can you at least take a chill pill on this whole human hunting thing? Sure, Clover may be a human, whatever. Why has it become your life's mission to annoy us at every corner?" You asked, placing a metallic hand on your hip. If you had eyebrows to raise, you would raise at least one of them. Maybe more than one if you were feeling like it.
"I DO NOT CARE FOR YOUR LINE OF QUESTIONING," Axis retorted and you sighed.
"And we do not care for you following us around like a square shadow chasing a circle shaped person. Get a hobby, join a club, learn to knit, read an entire dictionary or something. Just leave us alone," you motioned for Clover and Ceroba to follow you as you lead them deeper into the Steamworks. The three of you went further down into the maze while Axis stood there, contemplating something.
"WHILE I WILL NOT STOP MY PURSUIT OF THE HUMAN, I WILL ALSO NOT STOP MY PURSUIT OF THIS OTHER ROBOT. I WILL BEFRIEND YOU. JUST YOU WAIT," he mused to himself, slinking further into the shadows, biding his time until he can run into the three of you again.
This next time, though, he won't be as merciful. With his quips and accidental flirting.
